Welcome to the fifteenth week of the Fix DL Report. Each week I (@Rich_Migs) will cover significant fantasy baseball injuries. As the season continues, the report will address some of the most recent injuries and their fantasy implications.

OUT FOR THE SEASON: Patrick Corbin, Brandon Beachy, Kris Medlen, Jarrod Parker, Cory Luebke, Bruce Rondon, Bobby Parnell, Jameson Taillon, Avisail Garcia, Matt Moore, Maicer Izturis, Ivan Nova, A.J. Griffin, Jose Fernandez, Martin Perez, Prince Fielder, Chris Withrow, Gavin Floyd, C.C. Sabathia, Bronson Arroyo

PLAYERS TO WATCH (Not on DL/DL Updates): Victor Martinez (ribs), Jason Castro (arm), Collin McHugh (finger), Jered Weaver (back), Ryan Braun (back), Carlos Beltran (knee), Yu Darvish (head)

Victor Martinez continues to be out and may with only two appearances in July and may not come back until after the All-Star break.

Weaver has suffered back injuries in the past, so although reports say he is feeling somewhat better; owners shouldn’t expect him to make his next start.

Reports indicate that Braun will be fine moving forward. Darvish is also expected to be okay.

Interestingly enough, most of the players to hit the DL this week have been underperforming. Some of the reason behind such poor stat lines (Mr. Votto) can be directly related to their injuries.

Here is week fourteen’s DL report. I will be doing my best to avoid too much repetition each week, so be sure to refer back to the past DL reports to keep track of all the injuries. Let’s take a look at some of the key fantasy players on the disabled list entering the week.

Week Fifteen:

Pitchers

Injury

Expected Return

Fantasy Implications

Gerrit Cole (SP)

Lat

Unknown

The Pirates are fighting for a playoff spot, so obviously this news isn’t good. Cole recently had shoulder fatigue, but you would think this is unrelated, so that’s the good news. The bad news: his timetable is unknown.

Josh Beckett (SP)

Hip

Late July/Early August

Beckett has been great for the Dodgers and fantasy owners this season, but health and workload are concerns involving the big right-hander. He isn’t expected to miss much time and could be back after the All-Star break, but the Dodgers may play it safe and look at this as an opportunity to limit Beckett’s innings.

Justin Masterson (SP)

Knee

Unknown

Masterson could not come to a contract agreement this off-season with the Indians. Regret must be heavy on the soon-to-be free agent’s mind. He had a solid start, so perhaps the knee is the culprit (he had a knee issue earlier in the year) and if he gets healthy, maybe he can turn it around.

Ricky Nolasco (SP)

Elbow

Unknown

Nolasco should be back at some point this season and maybe this injury could help explain his putrid performance. The Twins have him for at least three more seasons and hope for better days.

Jon Niese (SP)

Shoulder

Unknown

Niese has been one of the bright spots for the Mets when healthy, but that has been an issue for him. Daisuke Matsuzaka will be in the rotation and AL-only and deep league owners need to decide if they want the headache.

Hitters

Injury

Expected Return

Fantasy Implications

Joey Votto (1B)

Quad

Unknown

Whether it is his quad or the surgically repaired knee, Votto will be out through the All-Star break. It has been a disappointing season thus far, but maybe the extra rest will allow him to have a second half surge.

Joe Mauer (C)

Oblique

Late July/Early August

There isn’t an exact timetable, but the hope is that Mauer will be back after four weeks of rest.

Michael Bourn (OF)

Hamstring

Early August

Bourn has a moderate hamstring strain and the team expects him to miss about four weeks. His fantasy decline has been well-noted.

Everth Cabrera (SS)

Hamstring

Uknown

After a breakout last season, Cabrera has failed to approach even his career batting line. PEDs the reason after all? Perhaps.

Others on the DL: Alex Presley (oblique)
