If You Only Read One Thing….
This weekend’s series between the Texas Rangers and the Houston Astros is one of the biggest around the league in terms of the playoff race. The Astros defeated the Rangers, 9-7, thanks to guess who? Carlos Correa. The young phenom now has 21 home runs, 61 RBI, 48 runs scored, and 12 steals while batting .277 in just 92 games this season. Think about that. He has the potential, based on this years production, to hit 30 plus home runs, drive in over 100 runs and steal over 20 bases over a full season. Those kinds of numbers would put him in the running for American League MVP. Speaking of the Houston Astros middle infield, Jose Altuve blasted two home runs in the teams 9-7 win on Saturday. That’s four home runs and five RBI between just the two middle infield players. This is the best thing that could have possibly happened for these two and for the Astros fans, given their scary collision just the day before.

Just As We Expected…
Stephen Strasburg has been phenomenal in September, giving his owners that rode out the storm earlier in the season a little late season gift. He struck out 13 batters on Saturday over eight innings, giving up one earned run and just three hits. Strasburg now has 50 strikeouts in his last four starts over 28.1 innings of work. Strasburg owners in keeper leagues are not only given this amazing September, but it’s as good as it gets to all but ensure that he can be relied on to be a top pitcher taken off the board in 2016.

But We Didn’t See This Coming…
Jarrett Parker is QUICKLY becoming a fan favorite in San Francisco, blasting three home runs on Saturday night, bringing his season total to six. Parker also drove in seven RBI, giving him 12 on the season since being called up mid-September. In those 18 at bats since being called up on September 15th from the minor’s, Parker is hitting .500 with a 1.556 slugging percentage. It’s going to be tough for the Giants to keep him out of the lineup from this point forward if he continues to swing the bat this way.

Saves…
Santiago Casilla, Andrew Miller, Craig Kimbrel, and Robert Osuna were the regular closers that picked up saves on Saturday. Luke Gregerson came in to close out the game in a non-save situation with the Astros leading 9-4, but gave up three runs in 2/3 of an inning. Will Harris came in to record the final out of the game to pick up his second save of the season.
