Daily Fantasy Baseball Strategy: June 10, 2016 – FanDuel Value Plays

Below we’ve got a discussion on some some MLB DFS value plays for the Friday 15-game slate on FanDuel. These are some names to consider for salary relief without completely punting the position. Our friends at RotoQL have once again been used to help guide your research for today’s games. To learn more about RotoQL or to take a look at the packages they have to offer, please follow this link – it will truly help you become a better daily fantasy baseball player — and will give you a full look at value plays for each position, for each site.

Always double check team’s official lineups and the weather prior to submitting your lineups.

James Loney | Mets | $2,200 (FD) – Often times we look to power bats at first base so it’s tough to look for a punt at that position, but RotoQL loves Loney’s value tonight in Milwaukee. Loney and the Mets draw Junior Guerra and the Brewers with a run total of 8 and an implied team total of 4.5. Over his career, left-handed Loney owns a .338 wOBA, .135 ISO and a 112 wRC+ against right-handed pitchers. It’s a very small sample, but Guerra has allowed a .318 wOBA and 4.23 xFIP to lefty bats. Again, don’t love paying down here but if you’re on slotting Clayton Kershaw into your lineup tonight this could save you some cheddar.

Devon Travis | Blue Jays | $2,700 (FD) – The model loves second baseman Devon Travis against Kevin Gausman tonight. The Jays/Orioles have an over/under at 8.5 right now while the Blue Jays team total sits at 4.5. He’ll likely hit towards the bottom of the order which we don’t love, but he rocks a career .342 wOBA and .161 ISO against right-handed pitching during his career. Gausman is susceptible to the fly ball, but more so against lefty bats than righty bats so the homer potential may be a bit limited in Toronto.

Scott Van Slyke | Dodgers | $2,000 (FD) – Van Slyke owns a .304 wOBA and a .156 ISO against right-handers over the course of his career and draws Johnny Cueto on the road at AT&T this evening. The game total is just 5.5 and the Dodgers’ implied team total sits at 3.5 against Cueto, the result of a probably pitching duel between Kershaw and Cueto. But if you’re paying up for Kershaw, Van Slyke at $2,000 on FanDuel make a lot of sense in your outfield with the potential to be hitting fifth. Tournament play only given he’s in the lineup. Kike Hernandez is listed as $220 right now for some odd reason, so you can plug him in the lineup and hope FanDuel doesn’t fix that.

Lance McCullers | Astros | $8,800 (FD) – Lots of expensive pitching on the slate along with a game at Coors Field with an over/under of 12.5 runs, so Lance McCullers could be a fine tournament option that allows you exposure to a low game total for pitchers (7.5 between Astros/Rays) and hitters in Colorado. The Rays have struck out the third most against right-handed pitchers this season at 25.1% and own just a .312 wOBA along with a 98 wRC+ as well. The strikeout potential is there, but he’ll have to limit the walks (15.1% BB%) to stay out of trouble in Tampa Bay tonight.
