Daily Fantasy Baseball Strategy: June 8, 2016 – FanDuel Value Plays

Below we’ve got a discussion on some some MLB DFS value plays for the Wednesday 11-game slate on FanDuel. These are some names to consider for salary relief without completely punting the position. Our friends at RotoQL have once again been used to help guide your research for today’s games. To learn more about RotoQL or to take a look at the packages they have to offer, please follow this link – it will truly help you become a better daily fantasy baseball player — and will give you a full look at value plays for each position, for each site.

Always double check team’s official lineups and the weather prior to submitting your lineups.

Robbie Grossman | Twins | $2,900 (FD) – The Twins and Marlins will dig in at Target Field with a game total of 8.5 at this time according to our friends in Las Vegas. The Twins implied team total comes in at 4.3, making switch-hitter Robbie Grossman a nice value play on FanDuel at just $2,900. In a very small sample this season, Grossman owns a .530 wOBA and .385 ISO versus southpaws but his career marks sit at .312 and .110, respectively. Speaking of small samples, if you’re in the BvP crowd you’d probably like how Grossman is 3-for-5 against Chen over his career, but that’s basically one game worth of at-bats so I struggle to use that in determining whether to use this player or not. I’m more likely to buy into the fact that Grossman is projected to hit fifth for the Twins according to RotoQL with the high game total. Tournament play.

Nick Hundley | Rockies | $2,700 (FD) – Should Hundley get the call tonight for the Rockies in Los Angeles against right-hander Kenta Maeda, he makes for one of the best values at the catcher position on FanDuel according to RotoQL’s model. He’s a career .319 wOBA, .165 ISO guy with a 100 wRC+ against righties during his career. Use your savings here to spend up elsewhere for tournaments as long as Hundley is behind the plate this evening.

Jung-Ho Kang | Pirates | $3,400 (FD) – Yes, the Pirates are facing Noah Syndergaard and the Mets at PNC Park with an over/under of only seven runs. Yes, the Pirates only have an implied team total of 3.2 runs as the home dog. Kang has only faced Thor three times — he’s 1-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base — but he owns a .373 wOBA, .203 ISO and 140 wRC+ versus righties in his short time in the league. RotoQL loves his value at the hot corner tonight, but this is a tournament play only.

Carlos Carrasco | Indians | $10,300 (FD) – There’s more than a handful of fine pitching options for the Wednesday’s main slate on FanDuel, but none come in with a better value according to RotoQL than right-hander Carlos Carrasco. He’ll get the Mariners on the road in Seattle with a game total of 7.5 and an implied team total of 3.8 for his opponents. The righty is a slight favorite at -109 at the time of this writing and will face no weather concerns this evening. The Mariners do fare well against right-handed pitchers since the start of ‘15 — they own the league’s fifth best wOBA (.333) and strike out just 18.4% of the time — so some may be wary of running out the Indians’ ace this evening, which is understandable, but the model loves his value. More of a tournament play in my mind.
