Daily Fantasy Baseball Strategy: May 19, 2016 – FanDuel Value Plays

Below we’ve got a discussion on some some MLB DFS value plays for the Thursday 9-game slate on FanDuel. These are some names to consider for salary relief without completely punting the position. Our friends at RotoQL have once again been used to help guide your research for today’s games. To learn more about RotoQL or to take a look at the packages they have to offer, please follow this link – it will truly help you become a better daily fantasy baseball player — and will give you a full look at value plays for each position, for each site.

Always double check team’s official lineups and the weather prior to submitting your lineups.

Mike Foltynewicz | Braves | $6,300 (FD)  – On a single pitcher site like FanDuel when aces such as Stephen Strasburg and Chris Sale are on the bump, selecting someone like Mike Foltynewicz is a tournament option only. Folty does represent the slate’s best value according to RotoQL, so starting with him against the Pirates who have an implied run total of 4.6 and are a -164 favorite could set you apart from the field if he can continue with the hot hand. He’s 1-0 in his last two starts with a 12/0 K/BB and has allowed just two earned runs, granted, the Pirates are significantly better versus right-handers than his previous two opponents (Royals/Diamondbacks).

Chase d’Arnaud | Braves | $2,100 (FD) – Like his teammate above, Chase d’Arnaud should be considered for tournaments options only as he is considered to be tonight’s top “value” play at 2B per our friends at RotoQL. On FanDuel, you can lock in d’Arnaud in at second base for just $2,100 and he’ll be leading off for the Braves against left-hander Jeff Locke. The game total sits at eight runs at the time of this writing with the wind projected to be blowing out towards right-center field, so maybe d’Arnaud will knock his first career homer out tonight.

Jung-Ho Kang | Pirates | $3,300 (FD) – On the other side of that matchup, Pirates’ slugger Jung Ho Kang appears to be one of the best values on FanDuel tonight per RotoQL. He doesn’t hit right-handers as well as lefties, but he still owns a career .366 wOBA and .194 ISO against the same handed hurlers. Kang has blasted five homers in his first ten games since healthy, so tonight with the wind blowing out there is some serious dong potential.

Trayce Thompson | Dodgers | $3,100 (FD) – Thompson is expected to be in tonight’s lineup, but be sure to check as close to lock as possible. He appears on this list for the second night in-a-row due to his matchup and price. Tonight Thompson gets the Angels’ newest acquisition on Jhoulys Chacin. In a limited sample, Thompson carries a .370 wOBA and .214 ISO against right-handers with six home runs. The wind is blowing out of Angel Stadium which improves his chances of going yard — especially he hits more fly balls off of righties.
