2013 Fantasy Baseball Daily Fix: July 3

DraftKings Team of the Day

Today I’m playing a $1 Triple Up contest, which gives you very good odds of earning a little bit of money. When you sign up at DraftKings don’t forget to claim your deposit bonus.

Player  Matchup Salary Note
SP – Bartolo Colon
Chicago Cubs $7,300 Cubs rank in bottom-third of MLB vs. R in wRC+, wOBA and BB%
SP – Derek Holland Seattle $7,600  Mariners rank in bottom-third of MLB vs. L in wRC+, wOBA and K%.
C – Joe Mauer
CC Sabathia (L) $4,300 Tough matchup even w/ CC struggling, but Mauer has a .420 OBP vs. L and has a higher ISO against them than R
1B – Freddie Freeman
Ricky Nolasco (R) $4,600  Hits better at home and is crushing righties
2B – Jed Lowrie
Matt Garza (R) $3,700 All 5 homers have come against righties; also hits them for average, too
3B – Josh Donaldson  Garza $4,100  Wrong side of platoon split here, but still a very good .840 OPS and 10% BB vs. R
SS – Jose Iglesias
Edinson Volquez (R) $3,400 Cheap option who’s hitting well, faces a wild SP. Allows me to go big on OF
OF – Adam Jones
Hector Santiago (L) $5,400 U.S. Cellular is a top-10 park for home runs; Jones hits for more power vs. lefties
OF – Coco Crisp
Garza $4,400  .371 OBP vs. righties w/ a good shot at R and SB
OF – Hunter Pence
Tony Cingrani (L) $4.800 1.028 OPS and .288 ISO vs. lefties

There were actually some good values pitching-wise for Wednesday’s slate. Colon’s and Holland’s prices were too good to pass up considering how good they’ve been throughout the season. Jon Lester, Jeff Locke and Bud Norris should all be quality plays considering their prices for today.

Other Alternatives: Yadier Molina ($4,300), Eric Hosmer ($4,000), Howie Kendrick ($3,700), Pedro Alvarez ($4,300), Jhonny Peralta ($3,600), Jay Bruce ($4,200), Wil Myers ($4,000).
