Pitchers to avoid

Top streaming options available in at least 50 percent of ESPN leagues

Collin McHugh – Tuesday at Seattle – McHugh has allowed nine earned runs in his last seven starts. Four of those starts have been walkless, and he’s struck out at least six in four of his last six starts. Seattle is just an average offense against righties, and it ranks 27th in home wOBA.

Drew Hutchison – Wednesday vs. Chicago Cubs – Hutchison has been the definition of inconsistent this year, but he’s stringed together three good starts in a row with six, nine and seven strikeouts a game, respectively. Even with the influx of talent Chicago has just ranked 21st in wOBA in the past month and 25th against righties on the season.

Chase Anderson – Saturday vs. San Diego – Anderson has eight quality starts in his last 10 trips to the mound, and the Padres. I think that says enough.

Jimmy Nelson – Saturday vs. Cincinnati – The Reds have the third worst offense against righties by wOBA this year, and Nelson has pretty solid rate stats in home runs, strikeouts and walks. His SIERA, xFIP and FIP are all under 4 and portend better things ahead.

Derek Holland – Sunday vs. Atlanta – Holland pitched well in his first start of 2014 on Monday, shutting out the Royals in seven innings with zero walks and six strikeouts. The Braves hit lefties well, but I’m willing to roll with Holland’s talent.
