Two-start pitchers and SP streamers: Week 4

In contrast to last week, Week 4 sees quite a few aces/studs doubling up on their starts. To make it easier for you to decide whom to start and sit from now on I’ll divide the two-start pitchers into tiers instead of just ranking them one through whatever.

Bench ’em

Top streaming options owned in less than 50 percent of ESPN leagues

  • Edwin Jackson – Thursday at Miami – The Marlins are averaging just over two runs a game through their first 17 games, and even though Jackson’s ERA and WHIP aren’t pretty he’s striking out over a batter an inning and will be pitching in a pitcher’s park against an anemic lineup.
  • Wade Davis – Sunday vs. Cleveland – I know I listed Davis in the avoid section above, but that was due to his matchup against Detroit, who’s one of the best teams against righties. The Indians, on the other hand, aren’t near as good against right-handers; they’re striking out in over a quarter of their plate appearances against them on the season. Davis has back-to-back strong starts, especially his seven-inning, no-run performance against the Braves on Wednesday.
  • Zach McAllister – Tuesday at Chicago White Sox – Zach Attack has pitched very well in his first three starts, and both his old-school numbers (ERA, WHIP, K/BB) and new-school numbers (K%, BB%, FIP) back that up. He’s striking out over 20 percent of batters he’s faced while limiting his walks to only a four percent rate. The Pale Hose aren’t clicking offensively yet, and their numbers decline across the board when facing righties.

Week 3 streamer stats (Miller, Griffin, Detwiler): 2.36 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, 19 K, 5 BB, 1 W, 3 QS.

I’m curios on why you say avoid A.J. Griffin and Patrick Corbin is a good option?

Griffin’s not striking many guys out, and Baltimore is second and Boston’s fourth in runs in the AL.

Corbin has three straight good starts, and the Giants aren’t very good against lefties nor do they have much power. Colorado is also weaker against lefties, and after Corbin’s good start at NYY I’m not too scared of him at home against the Rockies.

Between Corbin or Quintana who would be a better option?
