Welcome back to the Daily Fix here at the Fantasy Fix. It’s baseball time over at DraftKings. For those who aren’t yet Daily Fantasy baseball players at DraftKings head over there via this link and join. They will double your initial deposit up to $600.

It’s the last day of July and the MLB trade deadlineso there will be a lot going on. I don’t want anyone to miss on on all the deadline news so I’m going to focus on the later games today – the contest starts at 7:05pm eastern.

Follow me on Twitter with any changes as lineups roll in.

DraftKings gives you $50,000 to draft eight hitters (one at each position)and two pitchers.

DraftKings Team of the Day

Pitchers

Drew Hutchison | RHP | Blue Jays | $6,500 – Hutchison faces the 25 th rated team in wOBA against righties in the Houston Astros. Morover, he gets them on the road where Hutch is a far better pitcher (.630 OPS against on the road, .949 at home). And it’s likely very few will be on him as he’s struggled recetntly.

Johnny Cueto | RHP | Reds | $9,300 – There are four aces going in Cueto, Clayton Kershaw, Julio Teheran and Gio Gonzalez. I have each of them rated closely to each other so if you wanted to take any of them I’d be fine with it. However, Cueto has a mediocre matchup against the middle of the pack Marlins’ offense. If you can afford to take one of the other studs I’d go with Gio at $10,100. Easier matchup than Kershaw or Teheran, but a bit too expensive for me compared to Cueto.

Alternative: Tom Koehler ($6,400) is a dark horse as he faces the Reds who have been struggling recently and are only 23 rd in wOBA against right-handers. The Marlins are at home and are a much better team in Miami.  Bud Norris ($6,800) picked up 27 points in his last outing against the Angels and he gets them at home this time where he’s been better this year. As I noted above, Gio Gonzalez ($10,100), Clayton Kershaw ($13,800) and Julio Teheran ($8,900) are all in play, but they may be a bit too expensive to make work.

Catcher

Wilson Ramos | Nationals | $4,000 – Ramos is healthy so he’s useful. He has a career .346 wOBA against lefties and Cliff Lee hasn’t looked great. Dioner Navarro ($3,900) has also looked good lately and has been hitting in the middle of the order. If he’s back there today with the Jays facing a great matchup, he’s a solid play as well.

First baseman

Not a lot excites me at first base. You can go expensive and take the best name on the board in Paul Goldschmidt ($5,600).  I do like Garrett Jones ($3,800) and can fit in the OF as he’s got some solid numbers against Cueto and has a couple of big games over his last few starts. Darin Ruf ($2,800) makes a cheap option against a lefthander – his alleged stronger platoon side. And at that price, you can get quite creative with the rest of the lineup.

Second baseman and Third baseman

I’m combining 2B and 3B because just about all of my choices can play both slots.

Anthony Rendon | Nationals | $4,500 – Rendon (2B/3B) has been the Nats best hitter all year and he’s at his best against lefties hitting them at a .391 wOBA clip. Another 2B/3B option is Neil Walker ($4,400) who generally hits in the middle of the Pirates lineup and holds a .370 wOBA against right handed pitching this year. Kyle Seager ($4,200) is another 2B/3B option who hits in the middle of the order and hits righties well (.384 wOBA this year). And an added bonus for Seager is he’s 6 for 14 lifetime off of Indians’ starter Zach McAllister.

Shortstop

Danny Espinosa | Nationals | $3,400 – Espinosa has been getting starts at second as the Nats try to muddle along without Ryan Zimmerman. Espi has a .360 wOBA against lefties this year. He’s also 8 for 22 with 3 HRs against starter Cliff Lee. And if you want to slot him at 2B you can do that as well.  Perhaps every one of my choices today can play second base?

Chris Taylor ($2,400) is a nice punt play option as he’s got 19 points in his last two games and has been slotted near the top of the l ineup.

Outfielder

Adam Jones | Orioles | $4,700 – Jones has an outlandish .503 wOBA against left handed pitching. He gets Tyler Skaggs who looks to be running out of gas as the dog days of summer set in.

Josh Harrison | Pirates | $4,100 – Ride the hot streak until it ends. He seems to hit a HR every day because he’s been hitting HRs every day. Oh, he also fits at 3B if you like him better there.

Jayson Werth | Nationals | $4,500 – Werth is back in the lineup after a little injury earlier this week.  He’s another Nat who performs well against lefties (.427 wOBA)

Stacking options

The Blue Jays (who own the best wOBA against righties) look like a tasty stack against Jared Cosart who has struggled lately. And the Nationals also look like a good option against Cliff Lee who hasn’t looked healthy since coming back from the DL. The Orioles are also sneaky against Skaggs and they have enough cheap options that you could go heavy on starting pitching with them on offense.

Here’s what my lineup looks like right now. Good luck today!
