2013 Fantasy Baseball Daily Fix: August 10th 2013

Daily Fantasy Baseball Fix

Today I will be playing the Daily Dollar (great for beginners) If you are new to @DraftKings Daily Fantasy Baseball, you can claim your Deposit Bonus here! In other Draft Kings related news, I will also be participating in the $100k Sweet Spot contest on August 23rd. Fantasy players can qualify into the competition for just $2. The qualifier format is extremely difficult though, as the $2 qualifier puts you in a pool with 56 other entrants, and the only one to gain entry into the $100k contest is the first place winner only. Therefore, today I will be going with the “all hitting from one team” in order to hope to get lucky and have that team obliterate a poor starting pitcher. This strategy is widely known to be the best strategy. It’s quite easy to get a few great picks correct in a strategic selection of a roster, but even if two or three of your players put up zeroes, or completely flop, you’re pretty much SOL if first place is what you are gunning for.

There is inclement weather in just one game tomorrow (only game with > 40% chance of rain): Miami @ Atlanta. There is between 40 and 50 percent chance of isolated thunderstorms tomorrow during game-time (7 p.m. – 10 p.m.)

Today I will be going after Houston Astros starting pitcher Brad Peacock. Peacock was good in his last start against the Twins, allowing just four hits and three earned runs while striking out 10 in a 7.0 inning start, but Peacock gave up two home runs in the game. That has been the story of the year for the 25-year-old right hander out of Palm Beach, Florida. Peacock has given up 10 home runs in just 36.0 innings pitched, resulting in 29 earned runs and a 7.25 ERA on the year to date. While the Rangers lineup was depleted by the departure of Nelson Cruz thanks to Bio-Genesis, the lineup depletion was changed last night when the Rangers acquired Alex Rios from the White Sox, after having placed a waiver claim on him recently before that. The White Sox and Rangers worked out a deal that sends one million dollars in cash to the Rangers to aid in the payment of Rios’s salary, but the bulk of the contract will be paid by the Rangers. Rios is owed 13 million next season and 12 million for this season. He has a 2 million dollar buyout in 2015. The Rangers are including a player to be named later, or cash. According to an ESPN article, sources tell them the player is likely to be infielder Leury Garcia.

Here is my roster:

Pitcher: Tony Cingrani | $9,000 | vs. SD

Pitcher: Jeremy Guthrie | $7,400 | @ KC
