Daily Fantasy Baseball Fix

We are knee deep into the summer and temperatures are rising. As temperatures rise, scoring will rise. For example, yesterday’s Phillies @ Mets game was 95 degrees and had a wind blowing out to right field at 13 mph. There were 21 runs scored in the game.

Here are notable weather conditions for tomorrow’s slate:

PHI @ NYM: Winds expected to be 16 mph blowing out to right field. Pre-game temperatures are 95 degrees with temperatures increasing to around 100 degrees (including the humidity index). There should be plenty of scoring in this one (well at least for the Phillies) as Zach Wheeler takes the hill for the Mets, but Cole Hamels will start for the Phillies.

NYY @ BOS: Scattered thunderstorms expected at a 40 percent rate. The temperature is projected to drop throughout the game but will start at a “feels like” of 95 degrees, expected to go down to 85 degrees by 8 pm. The game starts at 4:05 pm.

LAD @ WAS: Temperatures are projected to be 90 degrees at game time, dropping at approximately three degrees per hour. No major wind factors but there is a 30 percent chance of rain (isolated thunder storms).

Here’s my team:

Pitcher: John Lackey | vs. NYY | $8,500

Pitcher: Mat Latos | vs. PIT | $9,900

Catcher: Josh Phegley | vs. ATL | $3,000

First Base; Josh Satin | vs. PHI | $2,000

Second Base: Chase Utley | @ NYM | $4,300

Third Base: Evan Longoria | @TOR | $5,300

Shortstop: Jimmy Rollins | @ NYM | $3,600

OF: Domonic Brown | @NYM | $4,300

OF: Jacoby Ellsbury | vs. NYY | $4,900

OF: Marlon Byrd | vs. PHI | $3,700

My strategy today was to pick on Mets starter Zach Wheeler first and foremost for the weather conditions and his crappyness so far this season. Also, I wanted to get some cheap platoon hitters and hot hitters – Satin, Phegley, and Byrd. All are right handers facing lefties today. (Byrd and Satin vs. Hamels and Phegley vs. Maholm). I also wanted to pick two reliable starting pitchers. Unfortunately all the options here are limited because I’m playing the early games only.

Here are some good picks if you play any of the late game formats:

Pitcher: Hisashi Iwakuma | @ HOU | $11,100, Daniel Straily | @ LAA | $6,500 and Corey Kluber | @ MIN | $6,100

Catcher: Victor Marintez | @ KC | $3,500

First Base: Anthony Rizzo | @ COL | $5,200 (Coors Field !)

Second Base and Third Base: Kyle Seager | @ HOU | $4,500

Shortstop: Hanley Ramirez | @ WAS | $5,300

OF: Brandon Barnes | vs. SEA | $2,800, Adam Jones | $5,900 and Chris Davis | $6,800 @ Texas and facing Ross Wolf
