2013 Fantasy Baseball Daily Fix: May 4th 2013

DK

It’s the weekend, and everyone knows what that means! Everyone has more time to watch baseball! What better way to watch baseball, than having a vested interest in multiple players performances?

Without further ado, let’s dive into my Draft Kings Team of the Day

Today I will be playing the Daily Dollar (great for beginners!): Don’t forget to claim your Deposit Bonus!

Here is my first @DraftKings Team of the Day – this is my Daily Dollar Early Only lineup

Pitcher: Adam Wainwright | $10,50: With a lack of depth at starting pitching in the Saturday early games, it’s a must to turn to Adam Wainwright who earlier this year hurled a complete game shutout against the Brewers when he yielded just four hits, and recorded 12 strikeouts! Also, Yovani Gallardo (who is pitching for the Brewers) is absolutely dreadful in his career against the Cardinals.

Pitcher: Tony Cingrani | $8,800: Both Cingrani and Adam Wainwright have been excellent so far this season. I have been quite vocal about my skepticism regarding Cingrani’s long term chances for success without a reliable third pitch. But right now, his deception and excellent fastball are reigning supreme. He’s a must start while he’s this hot.

Note* – Unfortunately with my high spending on pitching, the rest of my lineup is going to look pretty crappy*

Catcher: Matt Wieters | $3,800: Wieters hits above .300 against Hanson in his career, and while Wieters has scuffled a bit of late, he homered five games ago, and is 5-17 in his last 5 games, which isn’t too bad. Hanson is also quite prone to giving up HR and extra base hits.

First Base: Mark Trumbo | $4,000: Trumbo has four home runs in his past 7 games, and sports a .353 On Base Percentage over that same time span. He’s white hot at the plate. Picking guys that hit a HR is an excellent way to guarantee finishing in the money.

Second Base: Kyle Seager | $4,300: On the surface, one might ask, what’s the attraction to Kyle Seager? He homered yesterday, but without that game included, he has a .259 OBP no HR and no steals over his last seven games. However, including last nights’ game, and the previous five road games before that, Seager has a .609 OBP with 3 HR. Again, that’s in his last five road games. He gets to hit in Toronto’s favorable hitting environment – Rogers Centre – this weekend.

Third Base: Manny Machado | $3,400: Machado has been the hottest third baseman in baseball over the last seven days and recording a 8.99 on ESPN’s player rater in the last 15 days – tops in baseball during that span for the position. Machado has an OBP of .420 in his last 15 games, and has 12 RBI and 11 runs scored over that time as well. Against Tommy Hanson, he has a good chance to connect for another home run.

Shortstop: Pete Kozma | $3,800: Kozma always seems to have these random games where he hits the ball really well, which is interesting, because he never has been and never will be a good hitter, yet the stats so far this year don’t say that. Perhaps, just like Brandon Crawford, Kozma is enjoying a breakthrough skills season. Kozma has an OBP of .353 in his last 15 games.

Outfield: Carlos Gomez | $4,000: Gomez has been absolutely en fuego in his recently. Friday, he stretched his hitting streak to ten games. Over that span he’s 18-37 with six steals, six RBI, three home runs and ten runs scored. There’s no hotter player in baseball right now.

Outfield: Nate McLouth | $3,900: McLouth homered again on Friday, bringing his total on the season to three. In addition to the power, McLouth is supplying fantasy owners with a healthy dosage of stolen bases (eight) thanks to his enormous On Base Percentage – which stands at .431 for the season. He’s another great player to ride the streak on.

Outfield: Ryan Raburn | $3,400: Rounding out my cavalcade of streaky hitters is Ryan Raburn. Raburn went 0-5 on Friday, but excluding that game, he’s 11 for his last 13 with four home runs, nine RBI and five runs scored. Even better, he’s not striking out right now. Ride the streak.

I always enjoy doubling down when I play the Daily Dollar [Early Only]. So here is my night games Daily Dollar Team. In case you missed it earlier, here’s the link for the Deposit Bonus!

Pitcher: Patrick Corbin | $8,300: Corbin has recorded a Quality Start in each outing this season. He sports a 3-0 record, a 1.91 ERA, a 1.06 WHIP, and has a 12:0 K/BB ratio over his last two starts, and 19:3 in his last three starts.

Pitcher: Max Scherzer | $12,300: This matchup has perfect game/no-hitter/20 strikeout performance written all over it. It would be a sin to not pick Scherzer.

Catcher: Wilin Rosario | $5,200: Rays starter, lefty David Price, has struggled with his command so far this year. Wilin has the power pedigree to make David pay if he leaves one out over the plate, especially in a Colorado environment the Rays are very unused to playing in.

First Base: David Ortiz | $5,700: If only he could get first base eligibility in Rotisserie Fantasy Baseball, ugh.

Second Base: Dan Uggla | $3,400: Cheap option, and he crushes lefties. The Mets are trodding out Jonathon Niese, who albeit is a tough lefty, but Uggla has as good a chance as anyone to homer tomorrow.

Third Base: Nolan Arenado | $2,000: Finding Arenado in the bargain bin is a great decision and daily fantasy players need to continue to exploit it until his price rises.

Shortstop: Brandon Crawford | $2,400: Another cheap option, and although Crawford has expectedly cooled down, he’s still shown some improvements over last year that seem to be reasonable assumptions of official growth.

Outfield: Justin Upton | $5,400: Future tweets from tomorrow: “@DidUptonHomer Yes”

Outfield: Matt Tuiasosopo | $2,000: Okay, so anyone who follows me on Twitter has seen how old my Lenny Kekua joke has gotten. Seriously, who is this guy, and why does he get at bats? He’s a righty, he’s gonna be hitting in Houston, maybe he gets a cheap double.

Outfield: Delmon Young | $3,200: I’m not proud of this pick, but we chase homers in Daily Fantasy, and given the output I’m expecting from my two pitchers, all I need is one of these power guys to get a hold of one, and I’ll place in the money.

Good luck in your @DraftKings Daily Fantasy Leagues tomorrow, and one final time, here’s the link for the Deposit Bonus!
