4 Games: ATL, BKN, CHI, DET, GS, HOU, NO, ORL, PHI, SA, TOR, WSH
3 Games: BOS, CLE, DAL, DEN, IND, LAC, LAL, MEM, MIA, MIN, OKC, POR, SAC, UTA
2 Games: CHA, PHO,
1 Game: MIL, NY

On fire:

Andrew Wiggins:
Coming into the season there were three rookies that seemed to be the favorites for rookie of the year. With Julius Randle and Jabari Parker both out for the season, Andrew Wiggins seems to have rookie of the year all but locked up as we head to the halfway point of the season, but now he’s starting to play like it. Wiggins is averaging 20 points per game, shooting 49% from the field in the last two weeks and contributing to some extent in just about every category. Wiggins seems to have a better feel for the pace of the game in the NBA and is worth trying to get your hands on, especially in dynasty leagues. If Wiggins can keep shooting the ball as well as he is now, his shot attempts are only going to go up as his career goes on, and he has a chance to be the next big star in the NBA.

Pau Gasol:
Gasol has had an incredible first year for the Bulls, averaging 18.7 points, 11.3 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game. Gasol had 46 points, 18 rebounds, 3 assists and 1 steal against the Bucks on Saturday, and the Bulls are set to play four games this week. The Bulls play Orlando, Washington, Boston and Atlanta this week, setting up favorable matchups for the Bulls power forward.

Ice cold:

Derrick Rose:
Let’s start with something at least positive for Rose; he missed his first game on Saturday since December 19th against Memphis. The bad news, however, is that Rose is shooting 29% from the field in the last two weeks averaging just 14.3 points per game, and under five rebounds and assists. It’s been a rough few seasons for Rose since winning the NBA MVP in 2011, and even though he’s on the court in the 2014-2015 season, he isn’t someone you can rely on at the moment. Let him put together a few weeks of good play mixed with good health before considering him for any league.

Josh Smith:
Call it what you want, but Josh Smith is far from being the elite fantasy option that he was just two seasons ago when he was in Atlanta. His time in Detroit was a massive disappointment and it has transitioned now to Houston. Smith is averaging nine points per game in the past two weeks and is only taking nine shots per game. Going to a team who has James Harden and Dwight Howard as its top scoring options, Smith is nothing better than a role player on a team that had no intentions of him coming in to be a scorer, having played less minutes than Donatas Motiejunas Saturday against the Jazz. I would avoid Smith in all formats and sell him for anything you can get at this point.

Stream options:

K.J. McDaniels (SG/SF) – McDaniels was a very hyped rookie in the preseason, and while he’s had a pretty inconsistent season, he’s played more than 30 minutes in three of his last four and should stay around there this week. In just the past four games KJ swatted away five shots, ripped away three steals, knocked down four treys and averaged 10 points. The Sixers have four games again this week and he’s only 8% owned in ESPN leagues. If you want a solid defensive stat streamer with upside, he’s a great option.

Donatas Motiejunas (PF) – Motie has scored in double figures in seven straight games for the Rockets, and this past week when they played four games as well, he put up a really pleasant fantasy line of 31.5 minutes, 14.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, two assists, two steals and shot 61% from the field. With another four game week ahead and Terrence Jones return still a good ways away, Donatas is a solid streamer again.

DeMarre Carroll (SF) – Another good wing to consider streaming and potentially even holding onto is Carroll. Over the Hawks last four games he scored 12.8 points, hit two treys and had over two steals a game. Carroll doesn’t get a lot of praise as he’s primarily a starter for his defensive prowess, but his game translates well to fantasy. If he keeps it up and gets you eight treys and steals this week, that’s a nice weekly contribution. He’s available in more than 65% of ESPN leagues.

Nene Hilario (PF/C) – If it’s a four game big man you’re in need of, don’t forget about fragile Nene. He’s healthy right now, and while only playing around 27 minutes a night, he’s making the most of his time on the court. In the Wizards last four games Nene averaged 14 points, 7.5 boards, one steal and shot great from the field (65%) and the free throw line (70%). He’s only 27% owned in ESPN leagues due to the assumption that his next injury is always right around the corner, but with his playing time being monitored it’s worth a shot for at least this week to roll him out there if he helps in areas of need.

Injury Report:

Deron Williams:
Nets point guard Deron Williams has been diagnosed with a fractured rib and is out indefinitely according to CBS Sports. If you’re a Deron owner and don’t have an IR slot to put him in, he’s a drop option if there’s something tasty on the wire. While he’s out Jarrett Jack is a must own point guard.

Kawhi Leonard:
Leonard has begun some light shooting around the rim, as he his still dealing with a hand injury. Leonard is still a couple weeks away from returning to the Spurs lineup, making this season a very disappointing one for he and his owners coming off of a finals MVP performance last June. If you own him, wait it out and if someone in your league dropped him, stash him quickly.

LeBron James:
James has been sidelined with a knee and back injury and has not appeared in a game since December 28th against Detroit. It appears James in on pace to return to the Cavs lineup either Tuesday the 13th at Phoenix or Thursday the 15th in LA against the Lakers. The Cavs need him back even more than our fantasy teams do, so it will be nice to see him back out there.

Iman Shumpert:
Shumpert is someone to keep an eye on in the next few games. He’s scheduled to miss the next two weeks with a shoulder injury but could be an attractive option when he returns to the court. The Cavaliers are in desperate need for a defender, which gives him a good chance to enter the Cavaliers starting lineup when he returns.

Carmelo Anthony:
Melo has now missed six games in a row on a team that has the worst record in the NBA. He’s considered day-to-day, but with the Knicks out of playoff contention and the Knicks investing so much money in Anthony, they likely wont rush him back into action and will make sure his knee is completely healed before he suits up again for the Knicks. If you can find a Melo buyer right now, I’m OK with selling low just to get a return. There’s legitimate concern for season shutdown here.

Al Jefferson:
Big Al is a notoriously slow healer and he’s already been ruled out until at least February with this groin injury. I wouldn’t bet on him returning until after the All-Star break (mid-February), but if you own him you can’t cut him loose.

Shabazz Muhammad:
Shabazz missed Saturday’s game due to an abdominal injury. He was questionable going into Saturday’s game and we don’t know anything further on the injury at this time. Monitor this as he was on a really good run the past couple of weeks, and with Kevin Martin due back soon, how the playing time for the Minnesota wings will play out is unknown.

Kevin Martin:
It looks like Martin could return to action by this coming weekend which hits his original wrist injury timetable right on the nose. As mentioned above, the Wolves have a foggy situation now at their wing spots, but with Martin’s scoring, threes and free throw numbers, he’s probably worth stashing if you have an easy drop.

Ricky Rubio:
Minnesota hasn’t provided much info on exactly how close Rubio is to returning from his severely sprained ankle, but two weeks ago they hinted he’s improving and nearing a return within a couple of weeks, which is any time now. He’s available in 40% of ESPN leagues and should be stashed everywhere because despite his shooting woes, he was averaging nearly a double-double with points and assists pre-injury and also adds solid steals. Until he returns, Mo Williams and Zach LaVine are manning the ship and Mo is probably the better play, but neither is a great option.

DeMar DeRozan:
At the start of last week the Raptors hinted that DeRozan may return for their game last Thursday night but he remained sidelined the rest of the week. Now coach Dwane Casey told press that DeMar’s return may be further off than expected. This is frustrating for DDR owners, but you have no choice but to hold on to him because when he does return he is a top-50 player. Hopefully we have better news to report here on him next week.

Lance Stephenson:
Lance has now missed 14-straight games due to his hip injury and we have no clue on his status, never mind a return date. His fantasy owners face quite the dilemma as Lance wasn’t playing well for his new team even when he was healthy, and now he’s clogging up a roster spot with no indication of how long this may last. I would continue to hold on to Lance, but if you have a really nice option on the wire, I couldn’t totally blame you for giving up on him if you’ve tried trading him to no avail. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Gerald Henderson remain the benefactors in Charlotte in his absence.

George Hill:
This groin injury is haunting Hill’s fantasy owners and the Pacers haven’t said when he’ll return to the court, but I’d guess sooner rather than later. Hill should be owned in most leagues due to his importance in the Indiana offense and defense. He has some really nice upside due to the lack of other options available at this time and only C.J. Watson behind him. If he’s on your wire (available in 65% of ESPN leagues) I would add him and wait for his return especially if you’re sitting well in the standings. It will pay off big time later.
