2014-15 Fantasy Basketball: Weekly Leaders — Who’s Hot

In this article we will be going over the top 10 players in each major statistical category (excluding percentages). We will list and review each category to give you the best analysis for your fantasy basketball league. Everything you need to know about the hottest players of the week.

Points
1. James Harden, HOU 27.5
2. DeMarcus Cousins, SAC 27.3
2. Stephen Curry, GS 27.3
4. Jimmy Butler, CHI 26.3
5. Chris Bosh, MIA 26.0
5. Jeff Teague, ATL 26.0
7. Marc Gasol, MEM 25.0
7. Kobe Bryant, LAL 25.0
9. LeBron James, CLE 24.3
10. Anthony Davis, NO 23.7

Biggest Surprise
No major surprises but Butler his pretty high on the list. He may occasional appearances but usually lower on the list.

Who’s For Real?
Teague can score in bunches. As he continues to develop don’t be surprised to see him on this list more and more often.

Who’s A Fraud?
Butler just doesn’t have the offensive game to stay on this list consistently. He will see more than enough minutes but will still be up and down.

Who’s Missing?
Russell Westbrook is only off this list because he only played one game and needs two to qualify. He put up 32 points in his first game back from a hand injury.

Further Analysis:
A lot of the top scores have missed time this season or are currently out. Do not be afraid to pick up their replacements. Somebody has to score those points. They are short term fill-ins though, not long-term solutions.

Assists
1. Ty Lawson, DEN 12.5
2. Mo Williams, MIN 11.5
3. LeBron James, CLE 9.7
3. John Wall, WAS 9.7
5. Tony Wroten, PHI 8.7
6. Chris Paul, LAC 8.5
6. Rajon Rondo, BOS 8.5
6. Deron Williams, BKN 8.5
9. Kyle Lowry, TOR 8.3
10. Kemba Walker, CHA 8.0

Biggest Surprise
It’s nice seeing D-Will making himself useful. It wasn’t all that long ago that the argument was who’s the best PG in the NBA, CP3 or D-Will? Oh have things have changed.

Who’s For Real?
LeBron is so impressive. The man can literally play every position on both sides of the ball. He is such a selfless superstar. Don’t expect his assist to take a serious drop-off.

Who’s A Fraud?
Williams has filled in great for Ricky Rubio. Just remember, he’s a backup for a reason.

Who’s Missing?
Mike Conley just missed this list. He should be back on it sooner than later.

Further Analysis:
These backup PGs have really filled in nice this season. Do not ignore them.

Rebounds
1. DeMarcus Cousins, SAC 15.7
2. Tyson Chandler, DAL 14.3
2. Andre Drummond, DET 14.3
4. Nikola Vucevic, ORL 12.5
5. LaMarcus Aldridge, POR 12.3
6. Pau Gasol, CHI 11.7
7. Anthony Davis, NO 11.3
8. Derrick Favors, UTH 10.7
9. 5 tied with 10.0

Biggest Surprise
No real surprises here. There are some big numbers though.

Who’s For Real?
Vucevic is the real deal. He is still developing but what a steal he was for the Magic. He’s a rebounding machine.

Who’s A Fraud?
That number is a little too big for Gasol. Expect it to take a serious drop soon.

Who’s Missing?
Once again DeAndre Jordon is nowhere to be found. He’s too talented not to be on this list.

Further Analysis:
There is a great influx of talented young centers. Some are perfect pieces to build your fantasy team around. Others are excellent plug and plays.

Blocks
1. Joakim Noah, CHI 3.5
2. Serge Ibaka, OKC 3.0
2. Brendan Haywood, CLE 3.0
4. Tim Duncan, SA 2.7
4. Danny Green, SA 2.7
4. Josh Smith, DET 2.7
7. Larry Sanders, MIL 2.5
8. Andrew Bogut, GS 2.3
9. 8 tied with 2.0

Biggest Surprise
Did not expected to see Haywood on here. Especially in the No. 2 slot.

Who’s For Real?
Finally! Ibaka is back near the top of this list. That is exactly where he belongs.

Who’s A Fraud?
Haywood obviously. He’s not going to see the minutes to put up consistent numbers in any category.

Who’s Missing?
Dwight Howard is out with a somewhat mysterious knee injury. As soon as he’s back, look for him right here.

Further Analysis:
If you don’t have an elite shot blocker on your team, there is likely plenty of capable guys on your waiver wire. All you can expect is one or two. Shot blockers usually don’t disappoint. They are great to stream.

Steals
1. Paul Millsap, ATL 3.0
1. Gordon Hayward, UTH 3.0
3. Kyrie Irving, CLE 2.7
3. Jeremy Lin, LAL 2.7
5. Chris Paul, LAC 2.5
5. Lou Williams, Tor 2.5
5. Damian Lillard, POR 2.5
8. 7 tied with 2.3

Biggest Surprise
No one is all that surprising on this list. I would expect more guards atop this list as we move forward.

Who’s For Real?
Kyrie should keep up the good work. The Cavs need him to create turnovers and start fast breaks with James.

Who’s A Fraud?
Lin isn’t a terrible steals guy, but he’s not great at anything either.

Who’s Missing?
LeBron is missing. With the way their defense is playin, the Cavs really need James to make a ton of big plays.

Further Analysis:
When streaming guys for steals just remember, steals can be extremely unpredictable and the ball can bounce to anyone a few times in a game. The elite guys will do what they do. Unlike blocks, guys who get steals do disappoint at times.

3’s
1. Wesley Matthews, POR 4.3
1. Stephen Curry, GS 4.3
3. Gerald Green, PHO 3.8
4. Jared Sullinger, BOS 3.5
4. Mo Williams, MIN 3.5
4. Jamal Crawford, LAC 3.5
7. James Harden, HOU 3.3
8. 4 tied with 3.0

Biggest Surprise
Didn’t expect to see Sullinger on this list. Not that he’s a bad three point shooter, but he is surely not top 10 let alone top four.

Who’s For Real?
Matthews is one of the best sources of three pointers in the league. He is extremely underrated. Look for him to be all over this list all season long.

Who’s A Fraud?
Sullinger the fraud. Like I said, it’s not that he’s bad, he’s just not that good.

Who’s Missing?
J.J. Reddick and Danny Green should both be on this list. Hitting three’s is what they are paid to do.

Further Analysis:
Guys who hit threes can put up huge fantasy points in bunches. Of course you want your percentages high but look for players that take a lot of attempts. Don’t count on high percentages from your three point shooters. Look for quantity and hope for the best.
