Fantasy Basketball Daily Fix: NBA DFS Plays for February 7th

Steph CurryLast night’s NBA action could have been the weirdest Thursday in a long while. The only league I joined had 65% Carlos Boozer (myself included), Andrew Bogut (10%), and Curry/Noah were both 100%. And this was in a 20-man league! Well tonight is going to be much different as we have ten games to choose from and hopefully no late breaking news to hurt us. Here are the ten guys I’m looking at tonight!

Point Guard

Are you guys getting sick of Ty Lawson being on my list each and every day? I know I’m not. Lawson has averaged 22/6/8 in his two games back from injury, which I think is pretty good. He’s averaging 45 fantasy points in this game, yet remains under 8k on DraftKings tonight. Against the Knicks, Lawson faces off against a team that has a rolly poly playing point guard and someone he has already put up 38 fantasy points on. Tonight I like him for 38+ as he’s really playing well and everyone seems to play better at MSG.

So, I guess Kyle Lowry wasn’t too banged up to not be effective in his last game. This underpriced point guard went for 21/7/8 in his last game and has a great matchup against the Clippers tonight. This is probably the last time you can take advantage of Darren Collison as CP3 looks to be back very soon, so hop on it while you can. Lowry had a double double against them earlier this season, but this time I expect him to score more than 11 points like he did in that game.

Shooting Guard

I think everyone was shocked at Steve Blake’s last game. The guy went for an insane triple double for a little guard. His 11/10/15/3 game resulted in 54 fantasy points and tons of cash for whoever owned him. His price on DraftKings remains at $4,800 and Steve Nash is back again tonight, but it’s the other injuries that make me think he’ll get heavy minutes. Jordan Farmar and Nick Young both injured themselves in that game against the Cavs, so I suspect they’ll both be out tonight. Blake should see heavy minutes against the 76ers who are a prime team to pick guards against.

Like my friend @mattbell211, I like Bradley Beal as a GPP option tonight. He really shouldn’t kill you as a cash game guy, but his upside against the Cavs make him a great candidate for a random spurt of 50 fantasy points. Did you see what Wes Johnson, Ryan Kelly, and Steve Blake did to them? Beal is a better shooter than all three, so I believe it’s a possibility that he goes off for 30 real points as long as the game stays close. He’s averaging 27 fantasy points and 15 shots per game in his last five.

Small Forward

Although he doesn’t really play small forward, I really like Marvin Williams tonight. He’s SF eligible, so let’s take advantage of the $4,400 option. He had a really nice game against the Mavericks earlier this season scoring 19 points and adding five rebounds and three assists to it. In his last three games he has played very well averaging 16/9/2 and although Favors and Evans could be back tonight, I don’t think he loses too much value from it.

If we see another 15-16 shot game from Wesley Johnson tonight then I don’t see how he doesn’t put up 30+ fantasy points against the 76ers. They give up a bunch of stats to everyone they play and have no ability to defend the three. Well, Johnson just went 4 of 7 from three in his last game and is shooting well. He also has 9+ rebounds in three of his last four games. With this matchup and Nick Young sidelined for a while, there’s no reason to think he doesn’t hit 30 fantasy points tonight.

Power Forward

One thing we do know about the Lakers is that they don’t rebound all that well. This is where Spencer Hawes comes in. Hawes is coming off a 14 rebound performance against the Celtics and he had a double double in that game. Hawes had eight rebounds against the Lakers earlier this season and added 19 points to help him put up 43 fantast points against them. He’s kind of been hot and cold lately, so I’m not 100% confident in him in cash games, but he makes for a great DraftKings GPP play priced at $6,900.

Against the Kings tonight, I really think Jared Sullinger extends his hot streak. The Kings just gave up a double double to Jonas Valanciunas and although Sullinger is a smaller player, he arguably has more talent that Jonas. He has three straight double doubles and in those games he has averaged 21 points, 13 rebounds, and almost 3 assists per game.

Center

Without a doubt, DeMarcus Cousins is my favorite higher priced player tonight. He has come back with vengeance putting up two straight double doubles and two straight 50+ fantasy point nights. Against the Celtics tonight, I see another double double in my magic eight ball. Spencer Hawes just had 14 rebounds against them, so you know they’re soft down low. Don’t over think this play and just get him in your lineups tonight.

Am I missing something? Anderson Varejao is still under 6k? Well, I’m taking advantage of that like a … Ok I’m not going there. Varejao had a monster second half in his last game after scared us all in the first half against the Lakers. If I remember correctly, he scored 32 fantasy points in the second half of that game. I know he has struggled against the Wizards in two games this season, but he has still put up 8/9/3 numbers. While those numbers are bad for fantasy, they aren’t that bad in showing us that he wasn’t the worst player alive in those games. I’m taking the chance on him for his juicy price.
