Tuesday’s DFS NBA 2/4

Steph CurryWith a four game schedule tonight, I think strategies are different than yesterday or what they will be tomorrow. There are value options out there, but my confidence in them isn’t very high. The Los Angeles Lakers have provided some of that value tonight, but with Nash, Blake, and Farmar back tonight there are some big questions with what happens to their lineup. They will definitely impact some of the plays tonight.

Point Guard

Jeff Teague is only Hawks player I’m looking to spend money on tonight and with good reason. The Pacers defense is one of the best, but they are weakest at defending the point guard position. Teague went for 30 fantasy points against them earlier this season, but I think he can do more tonight. In that game, the Hawks seemed to have it in hand the whole time and Teague wasn’t pushed to the max. He has two straight games of eight assists and I think he continues that tonight.

Goran Dragic has been great recently, so much so that I’m strongly considering him tonight. I rarely play Dragic, but it’s hard to say no to his recent scoring. He’s averaging 23.5 points, four rebounds, and seven assists in his last six games. His recent streak of 24+ real points in four straight games is very tempting against the Bulls who are coming off a game last night in which the Kings smoked them.

Shooting Guard

Lance Stephenson is one player I think you must get in your lineup. He didn’t play against the Hawks earlier in the season, but should have success tonight against Kyle Korver. With Paul George being so great, DeMarre Carroll is more than likely going to be shadowing him all game. This leaves Stephenson, who is averaging 17/10/6 in his last six games, to be guarded by Korver. Stephenson’s price of only $7,200 on DraftKings is too nice to pass up tonight against the Hawks.

Steph Curry is likely to blow up on the Bobcats as long as the game stays close, but that’s what I’m afraid of. The spread is currently 9.5 and the total is only 201. Curry might be worth the risk as he went for 43/6/9 against them earlier in the season and obviously has had success against them. He’s also coming off a game where he scored 44 points, so he’s shooting well right now. If you think this game stays within ten the whole game then Curry could go off for a huge game.

Small Forward

DeMarre Carroll will have a big impact on this Hawks/Pacers game because he’ll be on George most of the game, but also because of how well he has played offensively lately. He has scored in double digits in seven straight games and he has even taken 38 shots in his last three games. He’ll have a tough matchup with George on him, but it’s not like his game is to handle the ball and make tough shots. Carroll should be fine for his low price on DraftKings tonight.

Power Forward

Kevin Love is my favorite high-priced player tonight, but I’m not sure I can afford him. Like I said in the intro, the value plays are not strong enough for me to spend 11k on either Curry or Love (as of right now). If you can find the money for Love then you have good reason to play him. He goes up against the Lakers, a team he is already averaging 50 fantasy points against on the season. In his last six games, Love is averaging 28/14/3 and 54 fantasy points. He even put up 71 fantasy points in his last game.

Jordan Hill should see the start for the Lakers tonight with Pau not making the road trip and therefore should be a solid play. The Timberwolves are thin at big men as long as Pekovic remains out and Hill is the kind of rebounder where hustle can beat out talent. He can put up good numbers when he gets minutes like two games ago when he put up 29 fantasy points in 29 minutes. Look for updates to the Lakers lineup and plug Hill in if he’s starting.

Center

Ronny Turiaf hasn’t played a ton of minutes when starting, but he’s worth a look against a bad rebounding team in the Lakers. They’ll be without Pau Gasol, which will hurt them, but Hill should make up for it a little bit. At $4,100 on DraftKings, we’re looking for mid 20s out of him tonight. I think that can happen with what should be a ten-rebound night.

Taj Gibson has seen his price rise to $6,000, but if he starts tonight then he should be worth it against the Suns. Joakim Noah had a crazy altercation last night with the refs and was thrown out of the game, so there’s a possibility he won’t be playing tonight. Gibson is the guy to own if that happens and plays well in big minutes. He put up 36 fantasy points against the Suns earlier this season in 41 minutes of action and just two games ago he put up 38 fantasy points in 30 minutes against the Pelicans.
