It was a short day of games on Thursday, but as on any day in sports it was chock full of fun.

The Mets last night looked well… Amazing. After trailing 6-0 in the 3rd, the Mets scored 3. They then tied it in the 6th at 7-7 and a 2-run 8th sealed the deal. Carlos Beltran hit his 9th home run of the year, continuing his amazing comeback.  Although last night was a big day for Mets fans, they still have a huge mountain to climb, sitting only 1 game above the last place Nationals. K-Rod picked up his 16th save, good for 2nd (Tied with Putz  & Kimbrel) in the NL.

The 1st place Rangers (West) beat the 1st place Indians (Central) behind the red-bat of Endy Chavez. He went 4-4 with 2 runs scored and his 3rd multi-hit game in the last 4.

Jonathan Sanchez won his 4th game of the season with a "little" help from veteran Aubrey Huff. Huff was a manimal last night slapping 3 home runs. He went 4-5, with 3 runs and 6 RBI. The performance bumped up Huff's average 14 points to a still low .233. It's a step in the right direction…

Nationals’ Michael Morse continues his hitting ways, slapping a few singles for 2 RBI’s in the win over Arizona. He is ESPN’s most added player as of late and is now 89% owned.

Matt Holliday is officially on the 15-day DL retroactive to May 31st.

In the pitching matchup of Thursday, Felix Hernandez showed James Shields who is King. Felix allowed 1 run over 7 innings and whiffed 11. Shields, who has been phenomenal this year, had his first blow-up of the season. He only lasted 4 innings and gave up 8 runs (7 earned). This brought his season ERA up over 1/2 a point to 2.77.

Justin Smoak batting average may have plummeted recently but he does have 3 homers in the last five games.
Pitching matchups I will be watching today: Alexi Ogando @Justin Masterson, Ryan Dempster @Jaime Garcia, Ivan Nova @Jered Weaver, Juan Nicasio @Matt Cain.
