2011 Fantasy Baseball Daily Fix: Chris Davis To Join The Rangers Yet Again?

Haven't we heard this story before? The Dallas Morning News reports that Chris Davis may soon be joining the Rangers yet again after a ridiculous run at Round Rock. He has 19 homers in 33 games and 9 in his last 11. David Murphy will most likely lose playing time as a result. Knowing that Davis has the potential to hit 30+ homers at a major league level, he may be worth the gamble right now before its too late or… same old same old.

Cole Hamels was trucking along, like he has all season, when he was hit in the right hand from a Adrian Gonzalez rocket. X-rays came back negative and he is questionable for his next start against the Marlins but don’t be surprised if as a precaution they skip a start.

Carlos Zambrano was also injured and left after 1 inning with lower back soreness. Middle relief man Marcos Mateo took over in the 2nd inning and threw 5 innings of 2-hit ball. Matt Cain pitched 7 innings scoreless ball and was heading towards the win until Aramis Ramirez jacked one out against El Beard in the 9th. It was A-Ram’s 5th moon shot (as Alan would say) in the last 7 games. The Cubs won in the 13th 5-2.

On the opposite spectrum, Derek Jeter will be rejoining the Yanks on Monday in his pursuit of 3,000 hits. Since going on the DL the Yankees are 12-3 and now stand 2.5 up on the Sox.

CC Sabathia struck out 13 Brewers and held them to 6 hits (3 of which went to the Magnificent Mr. Braun) over 7.2 innings. CC won his 4th in a row and is tied with Verlander for first in wins (11).

Red-hot Daniel Murphy homered off of Justin Verlander in the 2nd inning but it was smooth sailing from there on out. Verlander finished the day with 6 strikeouts over 7 innings as the Tigers won 5-2. JV now leads the league in K’s with 130, tied for first in wins with 11, and stands 3rd in the AL with a 2.32 ERA.

It wasn't Jaime Garcia finest outing but it certainly wasn't his worst (5.1 IP,10H,5R). Luckily Brian Matusz wasn't any better (3.1 IP,9H,8R) and Garcia picked up his 7th win of the season. Lance Berkman hit his 19th & 20th shots of the season and with Matt Holliday back in action, he seems to be doing just fine without the chosen one, Albert Pujols.
Behind Wandy Rodriguez, Houston avoided the sweep from the Rangers. He pitched 7 innings of scoreless ball, winning his 6th of the year and lowered his ERA to just under 3.00. Wandy has put together a great season and hypothetically if he was playing for anyone besides the Astros, we might be looking at a 10-game winner right now.
