2011 Fantasy Baseball Daily Fix: Trumbo’s Late Inning Heroics Avoids Texas Sweep

Mark Trumbo hit a walk off home run narrowly avoiding a Texas sweep. Watching from a distance Kendrys Morales holds his breath every time there is a celebration at home plate. Colby Lewis (7IP, 4H, 0R, 7K ) and Jered Weaver (7IP, 6H,1R,5K) duked it out before the home run.

Clayton Kershaw improved to 15-5, completely dominating the Brewers over 8 innings.  Kershaw is now tied for wins and leads the NL in K's.

Ian Kennedy & Vance Worley only pitched 3 innings before a 2 hour rain delay. Kennedy took the loss and stands at 15-4 on the year. Rookie stud Paul Goldschmidt hit his 4th homer for Arizona and Philadelphia's John Mayberry Jr hit his 10th.

When is the last time you’ve seen a pitcher with a 2.53 ERA and 11-10 record? Tim Lincecum this Bud’s for you.

Both the Yanks and Red Sox won last night, keeping the Pinstripes 1/2 game up.
CC Sabathia definitely wasn’t on top of his game giving up 10 hits over 7 innings but when you have a team that averages close to 5.5 runs a game, it’s hard not to get the win. Comparatively, the Giants average 2 runs less a game and thus their stud pitchers have crappy records. Sabremetrics at its best? Runs=Wins?

Alex Rodriguez will most likely not return today from the DL as earlier reported and more likely return Saturday.

The Palm Beach Post reported that Hanley Ramirez could possibly miss the remainder of the season.

Cleveland's 2B, Jason Kipnis, is headed to 15-day DL. He definitely proved he can hit in the majors, going yard 4 times in an 8 game stretch at the beginning of the month.

Ol Man Konerko blasted his 28th homer of the year. Paul has racked up 9 seasons of 27 homers or more.

Ricky Romero three-hit the A’s in a complete shutout. It was his 2nd shutout of the season.

Tim Stauffer bounced back from his worst performance of the season (3IP, 9R), holding the Marlins in check over 7 innings. Had it not been for the bad outing against the Reds, Stauffer’s ERA would stand under 3.00.

I wouldn't say that there is a specific matchup worth going out of your way to watch today, but plenty of studs are hurling including Jaime Garcia, Roy Oswalt, Max Scherzer, Felix Hernandez, Shaun Marcum, Daniel Hudson, Ryan Vogelsong, & Dan Haren.
