2012 Fantasy Baseball, Week 16 Rookie Report: Mets Promote Harvey & Hefner

The Mets promote two young hurlers and a rookie has become the most consistent starting pitcher in Cleveland.

SP- ZACH McCALLISTER (CLEVELAND)- The 6'6" 24 year old righty has been solid since he was recalled to the majors in late June. In his last five starts he is 3-1 with a 2.61 ERA. For the season Zach is 4-2 with a 3.21 ERA avearaging nearly a strike out per inning.  If you are in need of pitching help then why not take a flyer on him while the gettting is good.

SP-MATT HARVEY (NY METS)- Harvey will get his first major league start on Thursday against the Diamondbacks in Arizona. He possesses a mid 90's fastball and currently has 112 K's in 110 innings for AAA Buffalo. The 6'4" 225 lb righty has been successful at the minor league level going 20-10 while averaging 1.09 K's per inning. I recommend taking a wait and see approach with Harvey.

SP- JEREMY HEFNER (NY METS)- The Mets recalled Hefner to replace the injured Johan Santana in the rotation. In his brief major league career he has struggled mightily going 1-3 with 5.85 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP. Jeremy owns a 5-2 record and a paltry 2.77 ERA this year at AAA Buffalo. He also shows a career 51-36 W-L percentage so he has proven success at every level but the majors. He is not worth a pick up at this time.

SP/RP- MIGUEL GONZALEZ (BALTIMORE)- Gonzalez has looked good since joining the rotation for Baltimore, going 2-1 with a 2.79 ERA in his three starts. The Orioles are in second place in the American League East and manager Buck Showalter will continue to ride the hot hand in his rotation. Keep an eye on Gonzo especially when he has a two start week.

3B- RYAN WHEELER (ARIZONA)- The Diamondbacks are hoping Wheeler who posted a solid .351 batting average with 15 homers and 90 RBI in 93 games at Reno will help their third base quandry out. In his brief major league appearance so far he is hitting .222 with no HR's or RBI. Wheeler is worth a flier pick up in NL leagues if he gets regular playing time.
