Welcome to the week 20 waiver wire. This is your fancy introduction. All statistics compiled prior to Monday’s games. Ownership percentages are taken from Yahoo! and are in parenthesis.

I apologize in advance for the brevity of the analysis, but my four year-old son has been sick throughout the weekend and I couldn’t exactly justify sitting myself in front of the computer for any significant stretch of time. As always, if you have any questions, hit me up on twitter at @TheFantasyFix and I will respond with the quickness.

Brett Anderson | SP | Oakland Athletics (six percent owned) Sources are suggesting that Anderson will make his first start for the Athletics on Tuesday since undergoing Tommy John surgery on his left elbow last July. On Anderson’s recent rehab assignment, he dished 25 1/3 innings with a 4.26 ERA and a 3.6 K/BB. Tons of upside from this post-hype sleeper.

Freddy Garcia | SP | New York Yankees (nine percent owned) Five of Freddy Garcia’s last nine starts since the beginning of July have been quality and he’s only surrendered more than three earned runs in one of those nine. Garcia will not give you Verlanderian strikeout rates, but the Yankees’ bats typically put you in a good position to pick up a victory for your fantasy team.

Kris Medlen | SP | Atlanta Braves (42 percent owned) Medlen has been one of the hottest pitchers in the last month — 3-0, with a 0.85 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and a 5.5 K/BB. As it stands today, Medlen will see the Padres, Rockies and Brewers in his next three starts. Grab him while you can.

Jaime Garcia | SP | St. Louis Cardinals (48 percent owned)
Jaime Garcia took to the hill today for the first time since hitting the disabled list on June 5th with a shoulder strain — and he didn’t disappoint. The lefty dished eight frames of five-hit ball while striking out 10 and walking none. Going forward, Garcia is slated to see the some of the National League’s top offensive clubs in Washington and Cincinnati, but it’s hard to leave that upside on the wire.

Garrett Jones | 1B/OF | Pittsburgh Pirates (40 percent owned)
Jones is triple slashing .283/.313/.535 on the season with 19 homers and 52 RBIs. Parlay that with his multiple position eligibility in Yahoo! leagues and you have yourself a nice addition to your squad now that the trade deadline has passed.

Rajai Davis | OF | Toronto Blue Jays (29 percent owned)
Davis is one of those guys who can win you the stolen base category by himself. But on top of the 14 bags he’s swiped in the last month, he’s crossed the plate 19 times while posting a modest .277 batting average. Not a bad option in 12-team leagues.

Jon Jay | OF | St. Louis Cardinals (25 percent owned) Jon Jay is a better “real” baseball player than a “fake” baseball player. He doesn’t produce the gaudy home run or RBI totals, but he does sport an excellent .304 average (.333 in the last month) and sprinkles in some runs and stolen bases.
