2012 Fantasy Football, Week 14 Gold Mine: James Stark is Worth an Add

Picture

James Starks

The fantasy football playoffs are starting for the majority of fantasy leagues this week, which means it’s more important than ever to have the best lineup ready.

There were quite a few big performances that should draw your attention to the waiver wire heading into week 14, especially with injuries and poor play from some other would-be top fantasy options lingering in the back of your mind.

If your roster still has some questions marks and you’re seeking some outside help, perhaps one of my five waiver wire gold mine adds could pay off for you this week:

Jake Locker, QB, Tennessee Titans (Available in 83% of leagues)

I know Locker has been a bit shaky (5 picks in his last two games), but he’s also put up 260+ passing yards and a touchdown in both games, while adding at least 20+ yards on the ground. I’m high on him facing a weak Colts defense in week 14, so he could rise from the ashes and turn in a hefty playoff performance for fantasy owners.

James Starks, RB, Green Bay Packers (78%)

Starks looked fresher than usual in week 13, as he scampered for a nice touchdown and finished a solid day with 82 total yards on 17 touches. It looks like you can trust Starks’s role for now after a nice performance.

Jonathan Dwyer, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers (54%)

Dwyer is the man in Pittsburgh right now, and piled on 57 total yards and a touchdown as the lead back in week 13. He’s not the flashiest runner out there, but the Steelers like to pound the rock and he should be in for 15+ touches and goal-line work going forward. With running back being so thin, that’s definitely a plus right about now.

Chris Givens, WR, St. Louis Rams (86%)

The beauty of Givens is that he was always known as a big play guy who could go deep and bring in touchdowns. But after week 13 (11 receptions), we have to look at him as a PPR friend, too. Regardless of whether or not Danny Amendola plays in week 14 (and he might not), Givens holds WR3 value with considerable upside.

Josh Gordon, WR, Cleveland Browns (66%)

Gordon was a big-play touchdown machine a few weeks ago, but has hit the waiver wire again a ton after a drought over the past few weeks. He returned to glory in week 13, however (6 rec, 116 yds, 1 TD), and should only keep that momentum going against the Chiefs in week 14.
