2012 Fantasy Football, Week 4 Gold Mine: Make Tashard the Waiver Wire Choice

Tashard Choice

Injuries have ravaged your studly fantasy lineup, so now is the time to race to your league’s waiver wire to pick up some quality replacements.

C.J. Spiller, Reggie Bush and Matthew Stafford all went down, so plenty of fantasy owners will be scrambling to make adjustments. Make sure you land one of these waiver wire gems ASAP:

Shaun Hill, QB, Detroit Lions (99%)

Hill threw two touchdowns in less than a minute in a thriller in week three, quickly showing us all once again that he’s one of the best backups in the league. If Matthew Stafford (calf) misses any action, Hill is more than a suitable replacement.

Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB, Buffalo Bills (61%)

If Stafford is fine and Hill holds no value, then your next best bet is The Beard, as Fitzpatrick has been killing it. Through three weeks he has eight touchdown passes and he’s looking to be more legit than in the past. In week four he gets the Patriots, who can be beat through the air, at home.

Tashard Choice, RB, Buffalo Bills (91%)

Spiller’s shoulder injury should keep him out at least a week, while Fred Jackson (knee) isn’t about to return just yet. That almost certainly means that Choice, who ran for 91 yards in week three, will have a full load in week four, and possible week five.

Daniel Thomas and Lamar Miller, RB, Miami Dolphins (88% and 97%)

Reggie Bush took a helmet to the knee in week three, and could miss a handful of games as he gets back to full health. Both Daniel Thomas and Lamar Miller looked good in his absence, and could both be solid Flex plays as long as Bush is out. For now it looks like Thomas has more value as the top goal-line threat.

Ryan Williams, RB, Arizona Cardinals (64%)

Beanie Wells went down with an injury and Williams stepped up against the Eagles, finally looking like a competent back with over 80 yards rushing. I like the potential in Williams, and if he keeps it up, he’ll eventually pass Wells for good. Williams is more of a stash guy at the moment, but he shouldn’t be ignored in deeper leagues.

T.Y. Hilton, WR, Indianapolis Colts

I’m cool with Donnie Avery, Andrew Hawkins and several other receivers on the waiver wire, but Hilton is one you should really be looking at. Austin Collie made his 2012 debut in week three, only to succumb to a potentially season-ending knee injury. Either way, Hilton is slated for a big role going forward after hauling in four passes for 113 yards and a score in week three. The Colts are going to have to keep throwing to win games, so you know he’ll have solid potential in any given week. If Collie is out for a long period of time, Hilton’s value sky-rockets.

That does it for this week’s must-have waiver wire adds. Stay on top of injuries and protect your roster by getting some stash guys when you can afford to. Good luck heading into week four!
