2012 Fantasy Football, Week 9 Gold Mine: Lions’ Titus Young Officially Breaks Out

_Matthew Stafford nearly matched his season touchdown total, Megatron continued looking like a pedestrian receiver, and Jamaal Charles had more carries than he did yards.

Needless to say, week eight wasn’t what I thought it was all cracked up to be, and there’s a good chance you feel the same. Heading into the new week, however, you’re still searching for some answers and your current roster many not have them.

Here’s our latest attempt at bettering your fantasy lineup as we hit the waiver wire for week nine:

Jake Locker | QB | Tennessee Titans (Available in 84% of leagues)

Locker is getting very close to a return and will quickly be the hottest quarterback add off the waiver wire. The Titans continue to exercise caution, but it will be only a matter of time until he makes his return. He has borderline QB1 value with the right matchup due to his strong arm, weapons, and ability to make plays with his legs.

Daniel Thomas | RB | Miami Dolphins (89%)

The running back position is awfully thin on the waiver wire right now, but Thomas should be one of the top adds this week. The fact that he racked up 40+ yards and a touchdown in his first game back from injury tells us Miami has every intention of using him as their top goal-line and change of pace option. He has Flex value going forward.

Peyton Hillis | RB | Kansas City Chiefs (69%)

Kansas City doesn’t know what they’re doing on offense, but if they give in to logic they’ll do their best to run as much as possible going forward. With a healthy Hillis to help on third downs, short yardage and near the goal-line, they could get more effective in that department again. He’s more of a stash guy at the moment, however.

Titus Young | WR | Detroit Lions (63%)

Young wasted no time in getting friendly with Matthew Stafford sans Nate Burleson (broken leg), so there’s plenty of reason to believe his week 8 breakout performance of nine receptions, 100 yards and two touchdowns isn’t a fluke. He’s got to be the top waiver wire add heading into week 9 – especially given that Calvin Johnson has been struggling so badly.

Dustin Keller | TE | New York Jets (53%)

People are catching on to the fact that Keller has solid value, despite playing for one of the league’s worst offenses in New York. He was quiet in his return from injury three weeks ago, but has since racked up 14 catches and a touchdown in the past two games. His offense stinks, but it’s clear Mark Sanchez relies on him. Expect his targets to stay consistent following the team’s week nine bye.
