2013 Fantasy Football, Eliminator Pools: Week 2

After a lot of sweating, okay, an ocean of sweating, things ended mostly as anticipated when the clock struck zero. The Colts withstood a last minute drive by the Raiders, while the Patriots converted a field goal with nine seconds left to sneak out of Buffalo with a win. The Bucs weren’t so lucky as a Lavonte David penalty left Geno Smith acting like he just won a National Championship.

Still being so early in the season, Week 2 has many questions that won’t be answered this week and beyond. Is the Patriots offense a shell of its former self? Has Andy Reid made the Chiefs a team that is playoff worthy? Is the Bears offensive line fixed?

Those and so many other questions make picking a team for eliminator hard this week. But of course we’ll all give it a shot:

SAFE PLAY: Eagles – Michael Vick is healthy (relatively) and there is only one week worth of NFL video on Chip Kelly’s offense. Philip Rivers 4 TDs passes were nice but at the end of the day he was still had a 14 of 29 day. Besides a Rivers 18 yard scamper, the Chargers run game had only 62 yards on 19 carries (3.2 yards per rush). Throw in the famous “west coast traveling east, on a short week to play in the morning game,” which is exactly what the Chargers travel plans are this week, and the new look Eagles appear to be safe as they come.

GET THEM OUT OF THE WAY PLAY: Bengals – The weather is still nice in Cincinnati therefore Andy Dalton can still sling it. Although the Bengals D didn’t get a sack in Chicago last week, their front four is supposed to be one of the best in the league. On the Steelers side of the ball, for all intents and purposes, they put up 2 points last week. No Steelers running back had over 19 yards and that running back, LaRod Stephens-Howling, is done for the season with a torn ACL. This will also be the Steelers first game learning to adjust to life without Maurkice Pouncey. These divisional games usually come down to the wire but the Bengals know a win this week in front of a national audience is just what they to set the tone for the season.

MY PLAY: Falcons – Simple reason is it is hard to believe the Falcons would go 0-2. Looking into their Week 2 matchup against the Rams from a win/loss standpoint, you find the Falcons are 13-3 at home the last 2 seasons while the Rams are 4-11-1 on the road in that same time. Sam Bradford is just 16-26-1 as a starter while Matt Ryan is 56-23. Those numbers trend towards the Falcons being an obvious pick.

Safe Play: 1-0

Out of the way: 0-1

My Play: 1-0

I have to believe Cinci is a better bet , you have a broken team in Pittsburgh while Atlanta should win but
they are playing an up and coming St Louis team prefer to pick on the crippled
