2014 Fantasy Football Daily Fix: Week 6 Quarterbacks

We have reached the 1/3 mark of the NFL season.  Unbelievable how time flies when you are playing DFS.  This week we got a few great matchups that I will look to exploit.  There are quarterbacks at all three levels I will be using this weekend, you can fade or follow. Ironically this will be the second week in a row that Andrew Luck will not be mentioned – he played on Thursday.  So let’s get in to this weeks QB goodness.

Tier One – Elite

Peyton Manning, Denver Broncos, $9,400 – The elder Manning is the priciest QB of the week – with good reason.  He heads up to New Jersey to face the laughing stock of the NFL.  The Jets don’t give up the most passing yards to QBs but they do give up the second most passing touchdowns at 2.4 per game.  With the way Manning has been heating up as of late, and the running game in shambles, I expect the Broncos to win through the air.

Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons, $8,600 – Ryan at home versus the Bears defense? Gimme gimme gimme.  This guy is on a whole other level at home.  He isn’t the second most expensive QB this week for no reason.  This game has shootout written all over it.  If you are paying up for a QB,and want to fade Peyton, Matty Ice is whom I’d recommend using.

Tier Two – Value

Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks, $7,600 – Wilson is amazing. Plain and simple.  He doesn’t get as much love as “sexier” QBs, but he gets it done.  After seeing him annihilate the Redskins defense last week, he should be considered for your cash game lineups.  Wilson faces the Cowboys this week in Seattle, and the 12th man will definitely be a factor.  The Cowboys have been surprisingly decent, but I expect Carroll and company to exploit any chink in the armor they can.

Eli Manning, New York Giants, $7,800 – Manning number two will head over to Philly to play the Eagles in a primetime game on Sunday Night.  It looks like Manning finally has latched on to the new offensive system McAdoo is running, and the results have been great.  Manning makes a great cash game play considering his price and matchup.  The Eagles give up 291.6 passing yards per game and give up the fourth most points to QBs thus far.

Tier Three – Contrarian

Drew Stanton, Arizona Cardinals, $5,100 – As I am writing this, Stanton has apparently been cleared to play on Sunday.  This isn’t a play for the faint of heart.  But as I always say, no risk no reward.  The Redskins give up the most PPG (23.4) to QBs in the league, and there is no reason not to try your luck with Stanton.  As mentioned, this is strictly a tournament play, do not use in cash games.

Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh Steelers, $6,500 – This play isn’t as much contrarian, but there is a lot of value.  The Browns have given up the fifth most points to QBs this season (19.6) and there is a chance Joe Haden might not play, which would increase Big Ben’s value even more.  I can see why people would be turned off by this play since the Steelers are known to burn you.  I would recommend him primarily for tournaments.

Good luck to everyone this Sunday, and I wish you a profitable weekend.
