2019 FANTASY FOOTBALL RANKINGS: WEEK NINE

The big day is here, the one we have all been waiting for! No, I am not talking about tonight’s tilt between the 49ers and the Cardinals, pretty sure the TV ratings will be a ghost town. I could care less about the game and it even includes one of the two undefeated teams in the NFL. The Niners are relevant once again and if you do not play fantasy or are a die hard fan, you couldn’t name three players on their roster. Fantasy makes all teams relevant, evokes interest and makes the NFL better, nerd candy. I am constantly filling my bag and sorting through the good and the black licorice.
Very hard to believe that we are past the NFL trade deadline and getting closer to the cut off point to make trades in your league, you better know when that date is! Baffles me to learn that many GMs do not know this information, I play to win, not finish second. Now is the time to taste test your squad. If you learn that it needs spice, the time to make changes is growing near and if you snooze, you will lose. Benches assist through the byes and give you added depth to assist in domination; but there comes a time to start dishing off the depth to build the stout lineup (your bench team is no good if you aren’t winning). Benches should start to roster handcuffs, Defenses with advantageous match-ups in the playoffs and high upside lottery ticket flyers. FAAB needs to be spent but make sure to save around 20-25 bucks in case gold drops in the pan. Hope you all are prospecting big tonight in your neighborhoods and the ghoulish tunes are all queued up for your night away from the pigskin.
Here are some ‘sneaks‘ I have been creepin’ on.
RB – Jeff Wilson (SF)
Ownership: 2% ESPN, 2% Yahoo
Week Eight Snap Percentage: 4%
Week Eight: 2 rushes for 6 yards.
Matt Breida is questionable and Raheem Mostert could be limited but is listed as probable. The Cardinals might have to roll with newcomer Kenyon Drake as David Johnson is not expected to play and Chase Edmonds has been ruled out. AZ gonna have a hard time getting things done on offense and I see a couple turnovers aiding field position to San Francisco. The back up to Tevin Coleman is in for a juicy match-up. AZ gives up the eight most yards on the ground. The Niners love to share the workload and WIL-SON sees a good chunk of the Red Zone touches and is a touchdown dependent flex option. I must inquire, Wilson, can you still have fun? I think he can in the Valley of the Sun.
RB – Jamaal Williams (GB)
Ownership: 61% ESPN, 68% Yahoo
Week Eight Snap Percentage: 46%
Week Eight: Seven rushes for 22 yards and a touchdown. Caught all three targets for 14 yards and a touchdown.
Aaron Jones was limited on Wednesday but is expected to play against the Chargers on Sunday. Chargers give up the fifth most yards on the ground and allow 27.3 points weekly to opposing backs in PPR format. Matt LaFleur does a great job distributing the two backs in formations and each should be top ten plays this week. I would have no problem starting both guys if you roster them. Has caught a TD in three straight. Pretty much a home game for the Pack Show in Southern California, going to be sad for Spanos family seeing them takeover their rental on Sunday.

WR – Chris Conley (JAC)

Ownership: 15% ESPN, 20% Yahoo

Week Eight Snap Percentage: 74%

Week Eight: Caught four of seven targets for 103 yards and a touchdown.

Remember to set your lineups as this game kicks off at 9:30 Eastern as it will be played at Wembley Stadium in London. Texans have given up most touchdowns to receivers, forth most receptions and second most yards allowed in the air. JJ Watt is out so not much of a pass rush any more. Opposing receivers average 44.3 PPR per game against the Texans. Keep tabs on Dede Westbrook’s status, if he sits then Conley is a MUST START. Seven plus targets past two weeks. Marquise Lee was placed on injured reserve so door opens wider to shine. London loves their Jaguars and CC jerseys are gonna be a hot commodity if Dede is out. Minshew Mania continues.
WR – Phillip Dorsett (NE)
Ownership: 32% ESPN, 45% Yahoo
Week Eight Snap Percentage: 93%
Week Eight: Hauled in three of six targets for 43 yards.
Baltimore Defense is hard to run against and I am sure Bill Belichick knows that. They are the third best against the run only allowing 84.3 yards per game on average. Dorsett is the number two behind Edelman and saw only two less offensive snaps this past week against the Browns. Pats D is stout, but the Ravens will be able to move the ball and put up some points coming off the bye. This past week, Phillip had 19% of the target share and 30% of the team’s air yards. Brady will take to the air in Week Nine and Dorsett will hit pay dirt.
Fantasy is much like Halloween but lasts much longer. You can live in a dream world during the NFL Season role playing a winning GM or potentially a losing one. If you ‘do your homework’ and study the match ups, the latter is hard to achieve. I have been playing fantasy a long time and devotion is the aspect that endures. If you do not put in the time, you will not succeed. Tonight’s candy raid takes the same effort. My commitment to cavities and loyalty to a good scare will consume me today, fantasy will take a back seat!
Good luck and I hope you start off Week Nine hauntingly horrifying. Exorcise control over the demons and if you get that ‘hint’, top five QB finish this week?  The Fantasy Fix consensus rankings are below.
Happy Halloween!
