The Fantasy Baseball Daily Fix: Domonic Brown Gets Another Shot & Other News

Domonic Brown

Domonic Brown got called back up to the majors with Shane Victorino going to the 15-day DL. He should make the start today. If he is still on your waiver wire, pick him!

Every once in a while little brother gets to beat big brother. And when they do, it’s never by much, making one wonder if big brother let little brother win on purpose. Enter the Yankees vs. Mets. Ok that intro was a little drastic to compare the yearly New York matchups but you get my point. Since the inception of interleague play, the Yankees have won 6 series vs the Mets 2, with 6 ties. Long story short, the Mets won 2-1 behind R.A. Dickey.

Roy Halladay improved to 6-3, getting the win over CJ Wilson and his valiant effort (10Ks, 3 ER). Halladay pitched his third straight game going eight innings and struck out his league leading 80th batter. He ERA stayed at 2.21 but he lowered his WHIP to under 1.00.

Here’s a crazy fact, even though the Indians are in first place in the AL Central, the only player batting above .300 is Travis Hafner, who is now on the DL.

Washington destroyed Baltimore 17-5, taking out the hot hand of Jake Arrieta in the fourth inning. The Nationals hit 6 home runs, with 2 from Jayson Werth. Sorry Jayson, you’re gonna have to have a lot more of those days to be worth what they are paying you!

After last nights performance, Jose Bautista is now 0-7 in his last 2 games. Are the roids wearing off? Someone please tell me what’s going on, I’m freaking out man!!! Deep breath, deep breath.

It wasn’t a pretty game but Boston easily beat the Cubs 15-5. Jon Lester won his 6th game but gave up five runs and 12 hits in 6 innings.

Mike Stanton is hot (you know what I mean)! He hit his 5th home run and is batting .440 in the last 7 games. He also has an 8-game hitting streak going.

Logan Morrison has picked up right where he left off before hitting the DL.  Morrison hit a home run last night giving him 6 on the year. Since his return he's batting .321.

Newly appointed closer, Sergio Santos did not make a strong case to keep himself in the role. He gave up runs in 1.1 innings. I guess we can let him slide, since those were the first runs he’s given up all season!

Still filling in for Todd Helton and his bad back, Jason Giambi hit another homer yesterday. What? Not another 3? Not impressed. It’s tough love.

Ian Kennedy improved to 5-1 on another strong performance over the Twins (no surprise there). Are the Yankees kicking themselves for letting Kennedy go and not Hughes?

In a complete turn-around of what I thought would not happen, Ervin Santana pitched a gem and Tim Hudson got rocked. Santana pitched a complete game 4-hitter shutout, while Hudson only lasted 3.2 innings and gave up a whopping 8 runs.

Both Trevor Cahill and Ryan Vogelsong pitched great games last night in San Fran. Cahill gave up a run in the first, but didn’t allow another hit until he was pulled in the 7th. Vogelsong pitched six innings with no earned runs, bringing his streak of no earned runs to 18.1 innings through the last 3 starts.

Today's pitching matchup of the day goes to Brett Anderson @Tim Lincecum. Other duels include Tommy Hanson @Joel Pineiro, Homer Baily @Josh Tomlin  and Colby Lewis @Cliff Lee.
