There’s lots of big NHL action going on over at Draft Kings tonight, including multiple satellites for their big “$75,000 Guaranteed Light the Lamp” tournament that takes place on Tuesday October 21st. If you are a new Draft Kings user make sure to sign up here.

Let’s take a look at tonight’s NHL slate of games.

There’s only one team on a back-to-back tonight: the Boston Bruins. Right now we can safely assume that all teams in action tonight, other than the Bruins, are a shoe-in to start their #1 goaltender. *Note, Anton Khudobin is starting for Carolina, in case there was any doubt who their #1 actually is. Also, Alex Stalock is starting for the Sharks.*

Cash Games:

Top Cash Game Mini-Stacks:

1. Sidney Crosby / Patric Hornqvist | Pittsburgh | Combined cost: $15,300

2. Sidney Crosby / Chris Kunitz | Pittsburgh | Combined cost: $14,800

3. Sidney Crosby / Patric Hornqvist / Chris Kunitz | Pittsburgh | Combined cost: $21,100

Okay, has my point been made very clearly? Good, alright let’s move on to the Tier 2 Cash game mini stacks.

1. Tyler Seguin / Jamie Benn | Dallas | Combined cost: $15,600

2. Tanner Pearson / Jeff Carter | Los Angeles | Combined cost: $10,100

3. Rick Nash / Martin St. Louis | New York Rangers | Combined cost: $12,600

4. Kyle Turris / Clarke MacArthur | Ottawa | Combined cost: $10,200

5. Mike Cammalleri / Jaromir Jagr | New Jersey | Combined cost: $11,700

Cash Game Goalies:

1. Henrik Lundqvist – He has to bounce back against a Carolina team that lost to Buffalo, right?

2. Cory Schneider – Talent, talent, talent.

Defense:

1. Damon Severson | New Jersey | $3,400

2. P.K. Subban | Montreal | $6,300 – Subban would be in play against the actual Berlin Wall — and Svedberg might start, and he’s more like a stale fortune cookie.

3. Dennis Seidenberg | Boston | $2,700

4. Olli Maatta | Pittsburgh | $3,800

5. Paul Martin | Pittsburgh | $2,800

GPP Strategy:

  • Well, I thought the Barry Trotz era in Washington would continue to lead to less shots on goal, but truthfully it’s really going to lead to the Brooks Orpik has the worst contract in the history of professional sports” era. Any New Jersey line stack (which includes a right winger) is in play, because if Orpik is on the ice for that shift, they will probably score.
  • Want a contrarian play? Stack MTL/BOS. Both teams have been sluggish lately and these sorts of rivalry games always have the potential to feature lots of penalties. Going with lots of power-play men from both sides is a really sneaky idea.
  • Use Craig Anderson as a GPP goalie. He’s been red hot, and he should see enough shots to give you the maximum upside you look for in a goaltender — and he’s cheap at $6,500
  • Cody Ceci has a low floor because he doesnt block enough shots, but i’d be surprised if he didn’t get on the scoresheet tonight against the amusingly bad Colorado Avalanche. He’s just $2,900
  • Use Johnny BoychukYou’re welcome, also, I’d be interested to see if this game is super high scoring. I wouldn’t be stunned if it’s a snooze fest, because hockey randomness. However, I do regret not mentioning this game (SJ/NYI) in the cash game section
