There’s lots of big NHL action going on over at Draft Kings tonight, including multiple satellites for their big “$75,000 Guaranteed Light the Lamp” tournament that takes place on Tuesday October 21st. If you are a new Draft Kings user make sure to sign up here.

Tonight is a beautiful slate of games, and most importantly we can ignore the silly and hard to predict San Jose Sharks! Let’s get started.

Cash Games:

Top Cash Game plays:

1. Tyler Seguin / Jamie Benn | Dallas | Combined cost: $15,100

2. Max Pacioretty / Brendan Gallagher | Montreal | Combined cost: $12,400

3. Alex Ovechkin | Washington | $9,300

4. Henrik Zetterberg / Johan Franzen | Detroit | Combined cost: $10,000

5. David Krejci / Simon Gagne | Boston | Combined cost: $7,700

Defense

1. Damon Severson | New Jersey | $2,500

2. P.K. Subban | Montreal | $6,300

3. Torey Krug | Boston | $4,800

4. Kevin Shattenkirk | St. Louis | $5,200

5. Mike Green | Washington | $6,400

Goalies:

1. Niklas Svedberg | Boston | $6,300

2. Carey Price | Montreal | $7,200

GPP Strategy:

  • Curtis McElhinney can’t be trusted in cash games, but at $6,200 he’s a good pivot off Svedberg, who is likely to be close to 40% owned. Ottawa is pretty terrible, though the back-to-back scenario here for Columbus has me timid. This is a risk takers play.
  • Max out on Montreal players in one lineup. This isn’t just your typical Jean-Luc Picard faces off against the Klingons battle, the Habs are the Romulans. This is probably going to be a bad loss for the Federation.
  • What kind of advice giver would I be if I didn’t mention Sidney CrosbyHe got to face the second line for Dallas last game, as the Penguins chose to stick Brandon Sutter‘s line against the Seguin/Benn line. If this trend holds true, the Crosby line will face Nikolai Kulemin/Brock Nelson/Ryan Strome. Yeah, that’s not going to work for the Islanders.
  • It’s hard to pay $9,000 for him when Ovechkin at $9,300, Crosby at $9,500 and Seguin at $8,000 are all such strong plays, but Steven Stamkos is still the second most talented player in the league. This is the first game for Tampa on the road, so I’m not exactly sure what to expect from my favorite team, but if Vancouver comes out thinking they are playing Edmonton again, they will be in for an extremely rude awakening. Don’t forget about Tampa if you’re making multiple lineups.
  • He’s expensive, but Alex Goligoski has been promoted to the #1 power-play line in Dallas. That $4,600 price tag is pretty hefty, but in a Seguin/Benn stack, it makes sense
