Week sixteen in fantasy hockey is starting, and some players are emerging as must-own players in many leagues. Finding players on the waiver wire is essential to winning a fantasy hockey, and for replacing injured players, either for the short-team or long run. Let’s take a look at which players you should be targeting on the waiver wire this week

Cedric Paquette | Tampa Bay Lightning | Yahoo! Ownership—2%

The 21-year-old had a week to remember in fantasy hockey. Paquette scored five goals in three games, including a hat trick against Detroit. In 41 games this year, the Gaspe, Quebec native has 16 points (10G, 6A) with a plus-5 rating and 65 shots on goal (SOG). The fourth round pick in 2012 finished the month of January with nine points (5G, 4A) in twelve games and saw his ice time increase to a season high 14:44/GM. He’s currently playing on the third line with Jonathan Drouin and Alex Killorn, and although this is probably just a hot streak that will pass, fantasy owners who need some extra scoring depth should look to snag Paquette and roll him till he cools off.

Who I’d drop for him: Vincent Lecavalier (7%), Jakob Silfverberg (11%), Chris Stewart (8%).

Ryan Murray | Columbus Blue Jackets | Yahoo! Ownership—5%

Remember when Murray was drafted second overall in 2012 behind Nail Yakupov? Yeah, most people don’t. The 21-year-old has battled knee injuries since joining the Blue Jackets, but he’s healthy again and fantasy owners should be excited. The Regina, Saskatchewan native picked up his first point of the season against the Lightning and played 23 shifts for 19 mins of ice time. He’s currently paired with David Savard on the team’s second unit and is going to see a lot of power play time over the next few games. Murray isn’t going to take the NHL by storm, and his injuries will scare most fantasy owners away. But he has skill, and the Jackets will put that skill to good use in every way possible. Take a flyer on Murray and hope he doesn’t get hurt again.

Who I’d drop for him: Dan Girardi (11%), Brooks Orpik (14%), Jason Demers (29%).

Patrick Eaves | Dallas Stars | Yahoo! Ownership—1%

The rotation at right wing continues for the Dallas Stars, and it’s Eaves’ turn to get a shot at playing with Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn. The 30-year-old has 11 points (5G, 6A) in 22 games with a plus-3 rating and 36 SOG. The 29th overall pick in 2003 is barely fantasy relevant, but when you play with two of the best players in the league, your ceiling automatically goes up. The Calgary, Alberta native is playing on the top power play unit and was successful in finding the back of the net in Montreal last Tuesday. This experiment may not last long, and Eaves may find himself back on the third or fourth line in the coming days, but he’s riding a three game point streak (2G, 1A) and is showing Lindy Ruff he deserves the opportunity to play with the best. Fantasy owners struggling with injuries should take the risk and see what happens.

Who I’d drop for him: Cody Hodgson (6%), Nail Yakupov (28%), Matt Moulson (31%)

Sam Gagner | Arizona Coyotes | Yahoo! Ownership—6%

For some reason, Fantasy owners have forgotten about Gagner. The 25-year-old has 26 points (9G, 17A) in 49 games with a minus-13 rating and 112 SOG. His plus/minus is definitely a deterrent, but if your league doesn’t take that pointless stat into consideration, then Gagner should be owned. The London, Ontario native is skating on the second line with Lauri Korpikoski and Martin Erat and is centering the second power play unit. With trade rumors surrounding the future of Antione Vermette in Arizona, Gagner could move up to the top line and finish the season with 50+ points. It’s definitely a long shot, but the 6th overall pick in 2007 can score goals, despite his supporting cast being less than ideal. It’s a risk, but the reward could be very nice by the end of the season.

Who I’d drop for him: Ales Hemsky (21%), Patrik Elias (25%), Joffrey Lupul (50%).
