Daily Fantasy Hockey: DraftKings Value Picks, December 17th

The Fix always has a full breakdown of significant NHL slates for our Front Office subscribers, but now we’re also going to be highlighting a few value plays for everyone on most days with big NHL slates. Below you’ll find three or four players who are cheap and undervalued in today’s DraftKings contests. Thursday night is another big night. Let’s go!

If you’d like to read our full breakdown of tonight’s slate, complete with player rankings, you can become a Front Office member or purchase today’s breakdown individually right here.

Sam Reinhart – C – Buffalo Sabres – $3300

Reinhart has been a very solid contributor with six points in his last ten games. He is also finding significant power play time and top six time also. When a player is still valued pretty low and has a pretty moderate to moderately high floor, that is a good sign.

Viktor Tikhonov- RW – Arizona Coyotes – $2600

The Arizona Coyotes are trying to stay in the playoff race, and with a few badly timed injuries, they have had to turn to strange bedfellows. Tikhonov now finds himself on the top line, and though he has some limitations, he does have enough talent to be able to keep up as they say. The forward played 18 minutes the other night and did not look any worse for wear.

Fortunately, Tikhonov goes up against a Columbus team that has had a struggle without Sergei Bobrovsky in net. This could really be a case of good timing leads to good tidings. If there was ever a time to take a low risk value shot here, the pick here could be it.

Nick Holden – D – Colorado Avalanche – $3000

The defenseman is learning some hard lessons, but Colorado has done a pretty decent job of weathering the storm. While Holden has not been a benefit of the extra ice time with a boost in offense, the possibility exists of a solid floor in case nothing materializes there.

The result is basically mostly about cap relief and the fact he is playing nearly 23 minutes a night over his last dozen games. If you are really desperate and looking for a possible play then he may just be your guy. A contrarian theory exists here as the New York Islanders are just almost ripe for a loss.

Anders Lindback – G – Arizona Coyotes – $6300

This is a hell of a gamble because of the hit and miss nature that is the Coyotes right now. It spans everywhere from the offense, defense, and Lindback himself. Basically he has been hit, miss, hit, miss in the last four starts. If the pattern follows itself, then the game against Columbus should be a slight hit at least.

Columbus has been very hospitable to opponents and in their last game against Dallas, they kept up for about the first half of the game and then Tyler Seguin happened. Basically speed and a team being in better shape did the Blue Jackets in yet again. Max Domi and Anthony Duclair along with Tikhonov are going to have to step up quite a bit as no team is easy for Arizona these days.
