The Fantasy Fix and Draft Kings have partnered together to give you the best fantasy and gaming experience, offering hockey fans two games to play via Draft Kings. Their ‘One-Timer’ and ‘Daily Dollar’ games offer affordable, competitive fun with payouts suitable for the beginner and the seasoned veteran.

The gist is simple: pay to play, play to win. One top five finish can sufficiently supply your gaming fix for weeks. The small buy-in amount ($5) makes it easy to spend a small amount to see how good you are at crafting your best hockey team. Speaking of teams, building your team is simple. Your team will consist of a starting five (C-LW-RW-D-D), a goalie, and three utility positions. Those three spots can be filled with any position that is not a netminder.

The one restriction you do have is the amount of money allotted to spend on filling your roster. Your total to fill nine positions is $50,000. To learn more about the scoring system and the nuts and bolts of games, check out the page linked here.

Here is my roster for the March 15 ‘One-Timer’ contest, hopefully the luckiest roster heading into St. Paddy’s Day weekend (yeah, that was a bad joke, deal with it):

Center: Sam Gagne ($4,700)

Left Wing: Patrik Elias (5,600)

Right Wing: Jakub Voracek (5,100)

Defenseman: Niklas Kronwall (4,900)

Defenseman: Kimmo Timonen (5,200)

Goaltender: Jimmy Howard (8,800)

Utility: Wayne Simmonds (5,000)

Utility: Damien Brunner (4,500)

Utility: Henrik Zetterberg (6,000)

Total: $48,800

Team Notes

Friday’s NHL schedule is contained to only three games, cutting your choices down. In my opinion, there were a few match-ups ripe for the picking, namely Detroit versus a young, raw Edmonton team. The Oil remind of the 2008-09 Blackhawks in that they have an unending pool of talent, but it won’t be realized in the very near future. I prefer the disciplined game of the Red Wings, which is why four grace my team. I do like Sam Gagne for Edmonton, as his game is continuing to make strides.

I expect Philadelphia to show some life in the back end of their home-and-home against the Devils. Wayne Simmonds and Jakub Voracek are steals at their prices. The plus for them too, is if Philly falls behind (yet again), plus/minus is not a category with Draft Kings. Simmonds is a must-play in daily games.

I avoided the Nashville-Calgary game simply because both teams are inconsistent. I love Pekka Rinne in net, but if the guys in front of him fail to show up, he is a non-factor in daily money games. Getting the ‘W’ is crucial for your goalie selection.

I hope to see many of you playing now and in the future. These leagues fill up FAST. Look for my team under the user jeffrotull44. I expect most of you to give me a run for my money, but I really like money, so no promises that I do not take the pot o’ gold tomorrow,

Pathetic jokes aside, good luck!
