2011 Fantasy Baseball Daily Fix: Troy Tulowitzki Single-handedly Sweeps the Mets

Picture

The biggest news of the week is clearly the Barry Bonds trial, but truthfully I'm not sure who really cares. People have either forgotten about it or gotten over it. At this point there is a whole new generation of kids who don't even know who the guy is anymore.

This is totally off subject but you have to see Jayson Werth’s rookie card. He pretty much looks like Harry Potter.

Speaking of off the subject, here is a video of the 1987 Aerobic Championship hosted by none other than the legendary Mr. Alan Thicke. This video is possibly one of the strangest and most disturbing things I've ever seen so of course, I have to share it with you!

Carlos Gonzalez who is off to a slow start, hit his first home run of the year against the Mets. Troy Tulowitzki on the other hand needs a fire extinguisher. Tulo homered once in both games of the double header and continues to lead the league with 7 homers. Fingers crossed that Tulo can play a full season. Colorado swept the Mets and now is 10-2 for best in the league.

MLB is considering expanding its use of instant replay in 2012.

Cliff Lee bounced back big by holding the Nationals to 3 hits in a complete game domination. Lee struck out 12 and walked 1. Last year Lee averaged 10.2 K/BB and so far in 3 games this year is averaging 12 K/B. Simply amazing.

After going 1-9, Tampa Bay has won 3 in a row. Manny's replacement, Sam Fuld, stole his 7th base of the young season and only trails Matt Kemp’s 8. Fuld’s power may still be unproven but his speed sure isn’t.

Although going 1-5, Albert Pujols hit his 2nd home run of the season. Sit tight folks, he’ll pick it up.

Joe Mauer was placed on the 15 day DL with leg weakness. Drew Butera will take over in his absence.

Thanks to a little late inning heroics from Nick Swisher & Mark Teixeira, the Yankees took out the O's and are now tied for first in the AL East. Phil Hughes though, pitched his 3rd straight horrible start and at this point is definitely at risk of losing his job. Hughes’ velocity is way down and partly responsible for a 13.94 ERA and 2.23 WHIP. Batters are hitting .396 against him so far.

Some key pitching matchups to watch today are:
Matt Cain vs Daniel Hudson
Matt Garza vs Jhoulys Chacin
Zach Britton vs Justin Masterson
Matt Harrison vs Ivan Nova
