Chris Heisey Hits 3 Homers, Cliff Lee Pitches 2nd Straight Shutout & Other Fantasy Baseball News

How do you get more playing time in Cincinnati? Ask Chris Heisey. He hit 3 home runs, scored 4 runs and drove in 5, as the Reds beat up on the Yanks 10-2 in the 2nd game of the double header.

Whether it be that the Cards were without Albert Pujols or just that Cliff Lee is that good, St. Louis had no chance. Lee pitched his 2nd consecutive complete game shutout and third of the year. After starting off 2-4, Lee is 6-1 since and improved to 8-5. His 114K are 3rd best in the league only behind fellow Philly Roy Halladay (119) & Clayton Kershaw (117).

Brandon Beachy returned from the DL and continued where he left off. Over 6 innings, Beachy gave up 1 run and K'd 11. The Braves rotation if healthy is one of the best in the league. Jose Bautista hit his league leading 22nd home run but Curtis Granderson, Mark Teixeira, Prince Fielder & Matt Kemp are all hot on his trail.

Boston may have lost 2 of 3 to San Diego, but Adrian Gonzalez had no intentions of letting up on his former team. He went 10-19 in the series and his .359 average is 24 points higher than Jose Reyes who leads the NL.

The two hottest teams in baseball, early season bottom-dwellers, Minnesota and Oakland. At some point in time, even a terrible offense has to score some runs, so the A's were due. Unfortunately for them, their strength, the starting pitching has been hammered by injuries, so it is hard so see this as the start of something bigger. On the other hand, the Twins are starting to get their stars back, so this could be the start of something beautiful. To put things in perspective, even with the A's 6-game winning streak, they are only 7-11 in June, while Minnesota is 15-3.

Michael Pineda continues his all-star/ROY push against the Washington Nationals. The impressive rookie is coming off a 2-hitter against the Phillies. Tim Lincecum will try to salvage a very poor June, after a May where he was 3-1 with a 1.47 ERA he is 0-2 with a 7.59 thus far in June.  Unfortunately, he faces the red-hot Twins.

It looks like Ike Davis might miss the rest of the season, which is unfortunately considering his solid early start to the season. Apparently, we should know within the next three weeks.

Freddy Garcia gave-up 0 runs over 7-innings, his records isn’t spectacular but 6-6 with a 3.30 ERA after he was left for dead has to be more than the Yankees could have expected.

This day in baseball history, George Steinbrenner fired Billy Martin… for the 5th time. Yankee fan or not, you gotta miss Big George.

Hot and Not:

Hot – Justin Upton with a .565 batting average.
Not – Emilio Bonifacio in a 2 for 23 slump.

Hot – Paul Konerko 5 home runs in the last 7 days
Not – Miguel Tejada 1 home run in 240 at-bats

Hot – Carl Pavano in 4 June starts a 1.64 ERA
Not – Javiar Vasquez in five June starts he has a 7.13 ERA

The Anthony Rizzo Watch:  Since an impressive 3 for 7 begging to his career he has been mired in a 3 for 29 slump.  I should've given Anthony the same warning I gave my finance, my vote of confidence is the kiss of death.  I hope she, and young Anthony, can make it to the otherside of the Summers' curse.
