On a team whose leading scoring produces just over 15 point per contest, there’s no reason why Philadelphia’s Elton Brand and Andre Iguodala haven’t performed to their capabilities. Both players are amidst mega contracts that prevent the 76ers from having the flexibility to deal either Brand or Iggy but there is hope for resurgence as the team adjusts to their new point guard Jrue Holiday. 

In nearly every game that Holiday has totaled eight assists or more either Brand or Iguodala have reached the 20 point plateau. At only 20 years old there seems to be plenty of developing left in store for young Holiday and with that maturation will come added production from the Liberty City’s biggest stars.  

One of the summer’s most underpublicized moves was the relocation of former UCLA standout Darren Collison from New Orleans to Indiana where the young point guard has been handed to reins to a promising Pacers team. Entering the season Collison was slated as a top 10 point guard but to the dismay of the Hoosier state the highly touted Collison has improved in nearly every category except for the one that Indiana needs most desperately: a distributor. 

Darren Collison’s 5.7 assists per contest ranked him among the top rookies last season but rather than build off of the lofty accomplishment Collison has instead taken a dip. The 23 year old is down nearly 2 assists per night and his inability as an effective distributor has forced his team to sputter downward in the eastern conference. 

Another player who’s likely to find coal in his stocking this Christmas season is Cleveland Cavaliers forward Antawn Jamison. Brought to Cleveland to appease Lebron James last winter, Jamison hasn’t been able to find that success that he’s built a reputation for. 

A large part of Jamison’s free fall from the elite has been his incompatibility with head coach Byron Scott. Only recently has the veteran been able to crack the starting rotation but his season peripherals are all lagging due to his meager minute totals. 

In games that the former Tar Heel has seen more than thirty minutes of action Jamison has responded with his familiar double-double talent. Adversely, lingering minor injuries have often limited the 34 year old to bouts of limited floor time. 

Jamison will once again be on the winter wish-list of competitive teams looking to supplement their roster for the stretch run. This will likely mean that he’ll see even less playing time since Jamison will be forced to compete with even better players for action.
