Don’t overlook the importance of using the Smack-Talk Box anytime—day, noon or night–to boost your team’s chances of victory. Even if your team’s dwelling in the basement, you can still be the champ of smack-talk. It won’t win you any prize-money, but at least you’ll get it off your chest. If you’re "just too busy" to even talk 2-cents of smack-per-week? You need to rearrange your priorities.

If you’re a smack-talk rookie, or if you just have a bad habit of neglecting the talk-smack feature, let’s get you started.

Here are just a few of the many ways you can use the Smack-Talk Box to raise your team’s chances of winning…

1. Using the Smack-Talk Box to Place Hexes

Whoever put one on Aramis Ramirez did is right.
Ramirez hasn’t had a multi-hit game since Opening-Day (.160 batting ave.)

However, be careful…some hexes may blow-up in your face and make you look foolish, like this one from “BravesRule4Evr” in a Yahoo public league: “The Bravos will crush Jamie Moyer tonight and make him cry."

Later that day, Moyer pitched a shutout, so be careful, or you could wind-up being the laughing stock, like “BravesRule4Evr” found out the hard way.

2. Make It About Something More Than Baseball

In this form of smack-talk, the talkergets in a couple good jabs at a player or team while dodging the possibility of jinxing himself. Make fun of a player’s fruity moustache, checkered past, or current felony charges.

This way, regardless of whether the player who you’re making-fun-of pitches a no-hitter or crushes 3 home-runs, it still won’t fix the felony charge hanging over his head or the fruity moustache he has to walk around with everyday.

3. Don’t Hit Below the Belt

If you’re over 12 years-old and start ragging on someone’s mother you should probably be erased from the league and have your players sent to waivers for re-distribution.  After all, that’s why "your sister" jokes were invented. But generally, keep the focus of your smack OFF of your fellow manager, and ON the players of his team.

This will just get you started, there’s still a thousand more ways to shake-things-up the Smack-Talk Box. And if your team’s the one being ragged-on? Don’t cry about it, don’t take it personally–just bust-back with some potent smack of your own!
