Daily Fantasy Baseball Fix

Today I will be playing the Daily Dollar (great for beginners) If you are new to @DraftKings Daily Fantasy Baseball, you can claim your Deposit Bonus here!

Before I get into my @DraftKings team of the day, here are some weather notes for tomorrow’s games. –Note rain percentages aren’t definitive and are best used as a reminder to check the weather status again on game-day before selecting a player from that game.

Potential Rainouts:

LAA @ KC: only 30% chance of rain, but it comes with Isolated Thunderstorms. Shouldn’t be postponed but might get delayed.

My team:

Pitcher: Patrick Corbin | $7,900 vs. SD: Corbin has been absolutely on fire. Coming off a complete game, three hit shutout of the Rockies in Coors Field, Corbin might have a bit of a fall back to grace, but against the Padres, it’s doubtful.

Pitcher: Nick Tepesch | $6,300 @ SEA: Your team should be in “Tepesch Mode” for his start against the Mariners at SafeCo.

Catcher: Jose Lobaton | $2,900 vs. TB: Fellow catcher Jose Molina is a career 0-16 against Sabathia. Without a doubt, Molina will be sitting, making Lobaton the choice here. It allows us to stack our lineup at other positions.

First Base: Prince Fielder | $5,600 vs. MIN: Fielder hits .353/.400/.765 against Mike Pelfrey in 17 at-bats in his career. Not to mention he’s just an absolute beast.

Second Base: Ryan Roberts | $3,200 vs. NYY: Roberts has owned Sabathia in a small sample. Roberts is 3-7 with two home runs against the hefty lefty. Roberts has always mashed well against lefties, so despite the small sample, it’s a trustable level of success.

Third Base: Evan Longoria | $4,100 vs. NYY: Longo has cooled down a bit recently, failing to hit a homer in the last seven days. However, Longoria has been excellent for the entire month of May overall. He kills Sabathia in his career; 15-41 with 11 walks against only three strikeouts. He also has hit five home runs against him. .366/.509/.805 is nothing to sneeze at.

Shortstop: Everth Cabrera | $4,000 @ Ari: Cabrera doesn’t have a ton of power, but he’s certainly displayed some over his last couple games. Cabrera  is 5-10 in his last two games, with two home-runs, five RBI, three runs scored, and a stolen base.

Outfield: Mike Trout | $6,500 @ KC: No explanation necessary

Outfield: Chris Davis | $5,400 @ TOR: Chris Davis is going up against a right hander in Chad Jenkins without much in terms of stuff. If Davis doesn’t hit at least one home run, it will be a huge disappointment.

Outfield: Norichika Aoki | $4,100 vs. PIT: Aoki has raised his average to .322 on the season in the last couple weeks after a prolonged cold-spell saw him with an average hovering around .260. Aoki has seven multi-hit games in his last 15 games. In case that’s not enough, he has a .438 On-Base-Percentage against Wandy Rodriguez in 15 at-bats.

Saturday MLB News and Notes:

Despite Minnesota Twins starting pitcher P.J. Walters’ six inning, eight hit, two run, three strikeout, one walk performance against the Tigers in a 3-2 victory, he is not fantasy relevant even as a streamer option. Walters should only be owned in AL-Only leagues, and seeing as it was Walters’ first start of the season, he probably isn’t yet. Once again, owners in shallow mixed leagues ought to look the other way for solid streamer options.

R.A. Dickey fell back down to earth after his last two strong starts. He got pounded by the Orioles for nine hits, six earned runs, three walks and only four strikeouts. He also gave up two home runs, surprisingly one of them was not to Chris Davis. Davis did however hit his 17th double of the season as the Orioles outlasted the Blue Jays 6-5

Scott Kazmir was better than he was last week, as he only gave up two earned runs in this start in five innings (he did qualify for the win). Unfortunately, Pestano blew it as he gave up four earned runs in the 8th inning. Kazmir does need to improve his pitch efficiency going forward. Until he does so, he is best left on the waiver wire except in extremely favorable matchups.

Jon Lester threw a season high 124 pitches for the Red Sox in that game. He struck out eight though and his ERA now sits at 3.34. Lester has now had two straight starts of four earned runs or higher.
