Daily Fantasy Hockey: DraftKings Value Picks, December 10th

The Fix always has a full breakdown of significant NHL slates for our Front Office subscribers, but now we’re also going to be highlighting a few value plays for everyone on most days with big NHL slates. Below you’ll find three or four players who are cheap and undervalued in today’s DraftKings contests. Thursday night, we missed on a few of these so let’s get right back at it.

If you’d like to read our full breakdown of tonight’s slate, complete with player rankings, you can become a Front Office member or purchase today’s breakdown individually right here.

Editor’s Note: If you haven’t deposited at DraftKings yet, we’ll help you get started & give you access to our #FrontOffice for free if you use this link.

Calle Jarnkrok – C – Nashville Predators – $2900

Jarnkrok centering Nashville’s top line is probably a short term experiment while Peter Laviolette goes on a fact finding mission in the desperate search for a true number one center. While Jarnkrok is getting around 17 minutes a night, he is at least worth playing in the hopes he provides your pretty good floor with that one assist or one goal.

Please understand that the center may float over to wing from time to time so do not be alarmed. One goal in his last eleven games is a bit concerning but the chances have been there and that may just lead to a better night against Chicago. People forget Nashville was approaching 40 shots even in Chicago.

Sven Andrighetto – RW – Montreal Canadiens – $2800

The Montreal Canadiens trotted out Andrighetto on the first line Wednesday night and he had an okay game but not okay for him. He missed a few opportunities early on and his minutes began to kind of slide down a bit as the game went on.

The winger does have the ability to drive people nuts but maybe a bottom six role is about where the forward belongs. That is not necessarily a bad thing as he learns the ropes in the league. He does have a bit of a goal scorer’s touch but needs to work on passing and defense. Honestly, that may not matter much against Detroit but he is a flier to take.

Josh Gorges – D – Buffalo Sabres – $3000

The fun part about Thursday night is there are at least several players one can plug and play with moderately high floors. What that means is basically they will fetch you value more likely than not at a $1500 per point tag. Whether they provide you with any bonuses is another story.

Gorges basically averages almost three blocks a game and one shot per contest. If you do quick math with the DraftKings point system then that comes out to exactly two points. Take $3000 divide by two and voila! Saving money on defense sometimes in a value mini stack can make all the difference later when it comes to buying higher priced talent.

Connor Hellebucyk — G — $6400

The Winnipeg Jets get the benefit of playing a Columbus team that will be a little banged up. Whether Sergei Bobrovsky starts remains to be seen but regardless, this is a pretty good match-up at the price point. Yes, the young Hellebucyk is not going to average $900 per DraftKings point forever, but he has played the most composed of any Winnipeg goalie in years.

Sometimes that is enough in this business when it comes to trusting a goalie. The cliche quotes of “he looks so composed” or “he looks so polished” are true with this young player. Naturally he is going to take his lumps but right now he is giving them. At that price, you cannot go wrong, especially in larger field GPP’s.
