Always double check team’s official lineups and the weather prior to submitting your lineups.
Jung-Ho Kang | Pirates | $3,100 (FD) – An early game value, Kang shows up at the top of the list among third baseman. Kang will get the platoon advantage at home against Scott Kazmir with a run total of 8.5 and a Pirates’ implied team total of 4.4 runs as a slight favorite. In his short time in the MLB, Kang owns a .360 wOBA and a .306 ISO against left-handed hurlers while hitting the ball at a 40% Hard% clip (35.7% Hard% vs. RHP).
Shin-Soo Choo | Rangers | $3,300 (FD) – Once again Shin-Soo Choo finds himself at the top of the value list among outfielders based on the model. The Rangers draw Yankees’ right-hander Ivan Nova in the Bronx with the short porch in right, a game total of 9.5 runs and a team implied total of 4.9 runs. And as we noted before, Choo owns .392 wOBA and .202 ISO marks against right-handers over his career. He’s 0-for-6 lifetime versus Nova, but hard to use that data to bet against Choo, considering the sample. Dong of the day.
Tim Beckham | Rays | $2,400 (FD) – The Rays’ draw Red Sox southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez in Tampa Bay with a game total of eight runs and an implied team total of four runs. Beckham owns a .311 wOBA and a .222 ISO against southpaws in his career. There’s not much history between the two for the BvP crowd, but in three plate appearances against Rodriguez, Beckham is 1-for-3. He should hit at the top of the lineup with a chance to pay off his salary and make good on the value the model indicates.
Robinson Chirinos | Rangers | $2,200 (FD) – As noted above, the Rangers are in the Bronx to face Ivan Nova and the Yankees. With a run total of 9.5 and a team implied total of 4.9 runs, Chirinos makes for a great value if he’s in the lineup. He’s a .297 wOBA and .168 ISO guys against right-handers, which isn’t the best, but he does have dong potential and is super cheap.
