Starting Pitchers
C.J. Wilson – $20,258 – Wilson’s the priciest starter today, but he has a great matchup against Houston, which has a .287 team OBP and has the third worst strikeout rate.
Hiroki Kuroda – $14,554 – The Orioles rarely walk and have the third worst team wOBA so far this season.
Jordan Lyles – $6,434 – The White Sox are hitting the ball well so far and pitching in Coors is always a risk. But Lyles’ low cost is too much to pass up, especially in your third pitcher spot.
Catchers
Yan Gomes – $4,661 – A pretty cheap option who’s produced so far and has a good matchup.
Jonathan Lucroy – $6,157 – Lucroy’s better against lefties, but he was still decent against righties last year. He’s able to hit for extra bases against them, and his plate discipline doesn’t take too much of a hit.
First base
Joe Mauer – $4,485 – Scott Kazmir can be tough, but Mauer was priced below Lyle Overbay and Jesus Guzman.
Brandon Moss – $6,317 – Moss, who OPS’d .904 against righties last year, is scheduled to face righty Kevin Correia, who gives up basically a homer every time he pitches.
Second base
Chase Utley – $7,782 – Utley was expensive, but after filling out my roster I had a bunch of fake money to spend so I went ahead and splurged on him. He hits righties better for his career, especially power-wise.
DJ LeMahieu – $4,784 – I originally had LeMahieu in my lineup. He’s scored four times already and has a friendly matchup considering the opponent (Felipe Paulino) and home venue.
Third base
Nolan Arenado – $5,480 – I’m trying to take advantage of the Chicago/Colorado matchup, as Arenado has hit very well at home in his short time in the Majors.
Josh Donaldson – $5,236 – Same feeling as with Moss. Donaldson’s due to get something going on soon, and his price is very low.
Shortstop
Marcus Semien – $4,671 – I went really cheap here, but Semien has an easy chance at surpassing his price.
Yangervis Solarte – $5,050 – Solarte is inexpensive and has been killing it lately.
Outfield
Carlos Gonzalez – Cargo has a .996 career OPS at home and a .934 career OPS versus righties.
Mike Trout – $10,877 – You can never go wrong playing the best player in the game. A matchup against Jarred Cosart, who lacks blow-by-you stuff, makes it an even better play.
Alejandro De Aza – $8,041 – Here’s hoping De Aza can keep up his early season hot streak at Coors.
