Top streaming options available in at least 50 percent of ESPN leagues
Trevor Cahill – Wednesday vs. Miami – OK, so Cahill’s owned in 53 percent of ESPN leagues, but that number’s close enough to 50 to highlight him here. His ownership has dropped recently after a rough stretch, but every pitcher goes through one or two of those a year. All of Cahill’s stats tell us he’s the same pitcher he has been in years past, and while that’s nothing spectacular it’s at least serviceable against the worst hitting team in the league.
Corey Kluber – Saturday vs. Minnesota – Kubel’s owned in fewer than 6 percent of ESPN leagues, which is astounding. Outside of an eight earned run outing against Detroit on May 10 Kluber has 2.67 ERA, and since that start his K/BB is 45/6 in 43 innings. The Twins are about league-average against righties, but Kluber has been among the best in the game over the last month.
Kyle Kendrick – Wednesday vs. Washington – Kendrick has definitely fallen back to Earth after a nice start to the season, but before getting roughed up in his last start he had a stretch of three nice starts in a row. The Nationals’ offense ranks in the bottom five or six in a lot of categories, and it’s scored the second fewest runs in the majors on the season.
Bronson Arroyo – Wednesday vs. Pittsburgh – Arroyo’s still getting the job done somehow, someway. He has a quality start in six of his last seven starts with a 25/7 K/BB in those six starts. Pittsburgh is a lower-third team in a lot of statistical categories against righties.
