2013 Fantasy Baseball Daily Fix: August 4th 2013
Today, I’m going to try out the MLB Daily Dollar [$150 Guaranteed, Single Entry]. It’s just a $1 entry and the top 40 score some dough. It’s a good entry level game for taking a first dip into the daily fantasy pool. Don’t forget to claim your deposit bonus!

DraftKings.com Team of the Day:
Mike Minor | LHP | Braves | $9,000 – The Nats are dead last in wOBA against left handed pitching at .271 and a .617 OPS. They can’t hit lefthanders and Minor happens to throw predominantly with his left hand. He’s also on a nice run with 19 strikeouts over his last three starts in 22 IP.
Chad Gaudin | RHP | Giants | $8,000 – Gaudin faces a Brewers team that is without Ryan Braun and Aramis Ramirez. They are currently starting Caleb Gindl and Jeff Bianchi. Gaudin has been a pleasant surprise all seasaon and has success at A&T Park holding a career 2.66 ERA over 47 1/3 innings pitched. He’s been solid in his last three starts with 14 strikeouts over 17 2/3 innings.
If you are looking for other starting pitching I like John Lackey against the lackluster Houston Astros and Corey Kluber against the Tigers especially if Miguel Cabrera remains out.
Alex Avila | C | Tigers | $3,500 – Avila has been hot lately scoring back to back 20+ point games to close out July. Since July 1, Avila has a .785 OPS – not bad considering his OPS on the year is just .627.
Paul Konerko | 1B | White Sox | $4,200– This is all about Konerko’s history against starter Andy Pettitte. Konerko is 13 for 35 with two home runs and 11 RBIs for a career OPS of 1.093. He’s been cold lately so here is the hope that a friendly matchup and the return to playing in the field helps Konerko.
Dan Uggla | 2B | Braves | $3,200 – Uggla also has an excellent record against the pitcher he’s facing on Monday – Stephen Strasburg. He’s 11 for 24 with two homers and eight RBIs with an OPS of 1.310. He’s an all or nothing hitter so I’m looking for him to take advantage of Strasburg.
Kyle Seager | 3B | Mariners | $4,500 – He’s had some big games in the last week (two 20+ games in his last four and only one game in his last ten where he failed to score). Solid player with double digit scoring in three of his last five games. Oh, he also has a a .961 OPS against righties this season.
Asdrubal Cabrera | SS | Indians | $3,800 – Cabrera has a little bit of success against Tiger’s starter Anibal Sanchez (a home run among his four hits in 13 at bats) so we’ll run with him at SS.
Mike Trout | OF | Angels | $6,100 – Trout continues to shine brighter than anyone in the league. He gets the pleasure of facing a lefthander starter in Martin Perez. He has the fifth best OPS and wOBA against lefties this season.
Shane Victorino | OF | Red Sox | $4,000 – Victorino has double digit points in five of his last ten games on DraftKings. He’s got a .922 OPS over his last ten games. He also gets to face Brett Oberholtzer – a lefty which he’s always had more success against.
Colby Rasmus | OF | Blue Jays | $3,600 – Rasmus also has double digit points in five of his last ten games on DraftKings. He has no track record of success against Mariners’ starter Hisashi Iwakuma, but he’s a significantly better hitter (.789 OPS career) against righties than lefties (.644 OPS career).
I’d think about sliding Nelson Cruz in here somewhere. He’s got a ridiculous track record against starter Jerome Williams (11-18, four HRs, 10 RBIs and 1.965 OPS. The downside? He’s probably going to be suspended on Monday.
If you are looking to stack, I’d look at the Red Sox against the Astros.
Good luck today!
