Two-start pitchers and SP streamers: Week 25
I’m filling in for our friend Andrew Miller as he’s on assignment in Bora Bora. Or maybe he isn’t. Or maybe he’s me and I’m him. Have you ever seen the two of us in the same room at the same time? No, probably not.
I’d like to give credit to CBS Sports and their fantasy service. They provide a great list of two start pitchers and I’ve used this as the basis for my list below and then made adjustments based on other information I have been able to gather from other sources. The ownership percentages are for CBS Sports’ leagues and I find to be the most accurate as they have a small number of “free users” and hence fewer dead teams to skew the ownership figures.
First, I’ll provide my rankings of all two-start options this week. Then, I’ll highlight some matchups I like and dislike in each of three categories.

These top of the line properties are envied in every league. Should they be started in every league?
Cliff Lee and Anibal Sanchez have are playing against teams that have long since given up for 2013. Both should be expected to lead their fantasy owners’ to another weekly victory.
Patrick Corbin has been great this season and he’s been covered a couple of times here at the Fix. If there is a week to be concerned, it may be this week as he gets a Dodgers’ team that is still dangerous and then waltzes into Colorado where anything can happen.
Your house
I take a look at some of the mid-tier options. Pretty solid real estate, but you have to be careful that you don’t fall in love with past performance.
Rick Porcello, Cory Kluber and Sonny Gray have great matchups and there is a reasonable chance that one of the three isn’t owned in your league right now. There isn’t a scary offense among the opponents an each plays for a team that is in the playoffs or pushing hard for them. They should be started in all but the shallowest of leagues.
Matt Garza and R.A. Dickey haven’t been as good in the American League as they were in the National League. Do you want to trust your late season push to either?Start with some trepidation – I’d rather have Porcello, Kluber or Gray in my lineup over the duo of Garza and Dickey.
Outhouse
No one seems to like going here, but if you don’t have another option, it sure beats the alternative.
Juan Nicasio’s ERA is 0.75 better at home than on the road. Yes, he pitches in Colorado. He strikes out nearly a batter more per nine at home and his K% is four percentage points higher. I don’t have an explanation for what is counter intuitive. He’s a
Notes
Ryan Dempster may not get two starts this week as Felix Doubront is due back in the rotation for Boston in a six-game week. He’s probably not worth the risk.
Jorge de la Rosa will not start on Monday and loses his two start status as a result.
Sam Dyson has a chance to make two starts this season as he’s a candidate to start on Monday for Nate Eovaldi. The Marlins play seven games, but he’d be a desperation play in all leagues.
Good luck as you head toward your league championship.
