2013 Fantasy Baseball Daily Fix: September 15th 2013
Sunday is NFL day, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make some money playing the excellent daily fantasy baseball games from @DraftKings. Today I’m playing the Daily Dollar and $2 Moon-Shot ($400 guaranteed and a smaller field than usual)!
Here is my team: keep in mind the best strategy is to choose an entire lineup that faces a crappy pitcher and hope to strike it rich! I’m choosing the Rays who have struggled lately, to take all their frustrations out on Minnesota Twins pitcher Pedro Hernandez.
Hernandez has a 5.25 ERA and has atrocious peripherals to supplant it. He has a 4.69 K/9, a 3.19 BB/9 and more specifically only an 11.9 percent strikeout rate and a 8.0 percent walk rate.
Pitcher: Francisco Liriano | vs. ChC. | $10,300:
Pitcher: Tom Koehler | @ NYM | $4,200:
Catcher: Jose Lobaton | @ MIN | $3,400:
First Base: James Loney | @ MIN | $4,600:
Second Base: Ben Zobrist | @ MIN | $4,500:
Third Base: Evan Longoria | @ MIN | $5,300:
Shortstop: Yunel Escobar | @ MIN | $4,200:
Outfield: Wil Myers | @ MIN | $4,400:
Outfield: Kelly Johnson | @ MIN | $4,000:
Outfield: David DeJesus | @ MIN | $4,300:
Here are some other good matchup choices because they do well against the opposing pitcher:
Prince Fielder hits .421/.500/.684 (8-for-19) with a home run and two doubles against Kansas City starter Jeremy Guthrie
Alex Gordon hits .360/.500/.600 (9-for-25) with a home run and three doubles against Tigers starter Max Scherzer. Most importantly he has a seven walk to four strikeout ratio against him.
Ryan Raburn hits .375/.474/.938 (6-for-16) with two home runs and three doubles against White Sox starter Chris Sale.
Jay Bruce owns Yovani Gallardo, he hits .351/.400/.595 against him in his career (13-for37) with two home runs and three doubles. Also, Brandon Phillips is 14-for48 (.292 BA) and Ryan Ludwick is 9-for-24 (.375) against Gallardo.
