2013 Fantasy Baseball Daily Fix: September 7th 2013
Today I’m playing the Daily Dollar challenge, and if you’re new to Draft Kings, you can claim your Deposit Bonus here.
When Yusmero Petit of the San Francisco Giants nearly throws a perfect game in under 95 pitches, it’s time to start rolling the dice on cheaper pitchers. Petit ended up with a one-hitter thanks to a Hunter Pence dive attempt that came up just short off the bat of Eric Chavez (who had an incredible at-bat). In other news, Indians starter Scott Kazmir struck out 12 in six innings, yielding no runs against the Mets, and Kansas City Royals pitcher James Shields got obliterated by the Detroit Tigers. Shields gave up 14 hits and 10 earned runs in 3.2 innings pitched. Luis Mendoza faired no better in relief, as he gave up five runs of his own following Shields. Strangely enough though, of the Tigers 26 hits and 16 runs scored, Miguel Cabrera was just 1-3 with one RBI.
Today is an impressively clear day for weather. Only the New York Mets @ Cleveland Indians has a 40% or greater chance of rain. Everyone else is a clear and safe start.
Here is my line-up for the Daily Dollar (Early Game) challenge.

With pickings fairly slim on the early game slate, it’s a great chance to attack the bad pitchers. One of them is Johnny Hellweg of the Milwaukee Brewers. This season, Hellweg has 13 walks and just three strikeouts in 10.2 innings pitched, (in three starts!)
In addition to Hellweg, there is David Huff a left-handed pitcher for the New York Yankees who will be facing a white hot Red Sox offense that has scored 41 runs in the past three games. Jonny Gomes, Wil Middlebrooks, Jacoby Ellsbury, and Shane Victorino are all excellent starts as well tomorrow.
*Author’s Note* – Rest in Peace Dan Haren, as he gave up five earned runs against the Marlins and now has given up 16 earned runs in his past 12.2 innings.
