2013 Fantasy Baseball, The Daily Fix: August 28th, 2013
Today’s trade between the Pirates and the Mets confirms that the trade action isn’t over yet. There are still three days before the end of the deadline. Trades can continue after August 31st, but players will not be eligible to play in the playoffs if they are acquired after that date. Once the calendar turns to September we will start to see some exciting prospects added to the list of players to choose from. This is definitely not the time to stop playing daily fantasy baseball.
Today, I’m playing in a Double Up! contest again. They range anywhere from a dollar to over 100 dollars, but each works the same way. If you finish in the top half you get almost twice as much as you put in. Naturally, DraftKings gets their cut because they have to pay their employees, the light bill, and make a little for their trouble. That being said, they are very generous to those that start playing as they will give you a deposit bonus you can access here.

Twitter Question of the Day
An interesting debate occurred on twitter over whether someone should go with Rajai Davis or Robbie Grossman. Grossman is actually been an underrated force since returning to the big leagues in July. He’s hitting .342 since being called back with four home runs. Unfortunately, he does not offer anything else in any particular category. He just gives you a little bit of everything. Davis offers no power and doesn’t get on base at a good clip, but he offers elite stolen base skills. So, do you go with someone that does a little bit of everything or do you go with a one trick pony who is elite at that one skill? It’s an interesting dilemma and depends on where your team stands in those categories.
Personally, I would go with Grossman because he has a better chance of playing regularly down the stretch. He does offer some speed and a little more power than Davis. Unless you desperately need steals at this point, you are better off going with the better all around player. While your at it, think about looking at L.J. Hoes as well. He adds all categories at a reasonable clip so far and he’ll likely play out the string as well.
