2013 Fantasy Baseball, The Daily Fix: September 17th, 2013

With college football and the NFL in full swing, this would seem like the time to finally abandon fantasy baseball, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Sure, most of your friends have left baseball far behind and are in full football mode. That’s better for you because it means you can take care of people’s lack of attention to the final two weeks of the season. There are still some fascinating pennant races and still plenty of good performances left to take advantage of.

Furthermore, if your team had a good season you are probably locked in an important playoff battle of your own. If you play in multiple leagues there is a good chance you did well in at least one of them. At any rate, Draftkings is all about having a lot of fun and possibly making a little money along the way. Sure, you might be juiced for more football this weekend, but why not give baseball another whirl. You might find winning a little easier with most fans attention’s divided.

Today, I’m playing in a Double Up! contest again. They range anywhere from a dollar to over 100 dollars, but each works the same way. If you finish in the top half you get almost twice as much as you put in. Naturally, DraftKings gets their cut because they have to pay their employees, the light bill, and make a little for their trouble. That being said, they are very generous to those that start playing as they will give you a deposit bonus you can access here.

My Lineup

Salary

FPPG

Notes
C Wilson Ramos

4,100

7.80

How about 15 home runs in less than 300 plate appearances?
1B Matt Adams

4,100

5.40

Has he taken the first base job away from Allen Craig in St. Louis?
2B Kyle Seager

4,000

7.70

I pick him almost every time out because he continues to be   underpriced.
3B Mark Reynolds

4,300

6.40

He has an .827 OPS in 84 plate appearances as a Yankee. Brian Cashman   is earning his paycheck.
SS Jose Reyes

4,500

8.40

When healthy he is the best all-around fantasy shortstop in the   business.
OF Will Venable

3,800

6.90

He signed a nice extension a few weeks ago and continues to be one of   the unsung heroes in San Diego.
OF Josh Hamilton

4,000

7.10

If he continues to hustle he could end up around .260 and 80 RBIs. It’s   not worth the money, but not terrible.
OF Nick Swisher

4,400

7.30

A late surge might be enough to vault the Indians into the final wild   card slot. Nine straight 20+ home run seasons.
P Zack Wheeler

7,900

15.10

He is one of the better young pitchers in the game and going up   against an anemic Giants offense.
P Mike Leake

8,800

14.40

The Astros own the AL record in strikeouts and could get to the ML   record.
