2013 Fantasy Baseball, The Daily Fix: September 4th, 2013
Leave it to Bud Selig to deny us one of the great things about September. The NL Central has three teams vying for the playoffs and now because of the second wild card it looks like all three will make the playoffs. Even with the single wild card, one of them would be on the outside looking in. Now, that’s drama. Instead, we will get a manufactured one game playoff to simulate the end of the 2011 season. It’s always better when drama occurs naturally.
As for the American League, it looks like the second wild card might actually create some additional drama. The second wild card could possibly come from the AL East or the AL Central. It looks like both the Athletics and Rangers will make the playoffs, so it could be a battle between the Orioles, Yankees, Rays, and Indians. So, with so many teams left in the playoff hunt, there will be a ton of players engaged here in the final month. You might as well stay engaged in the daily baseball.
Today, I’m playing in a Double Up! contest again. They range anywhere from a dollar to over 100 dollars, but each works the same way. If you finish in the top half you get almost twice as much as you put in. Naturally, DraftKings gets their cut because they have to pay their employees, the light bill, and make a little for their trouble. That being said, they are very generous to those that start playing as they will give you a deposit bonus you can access here.

Jonathan Lucroy |

He has an .816 OPS in spite of a poor start to the season. This is a good price for him. |

Chris Davis |

10.5 |
Yes, he has slowed down, but his price is also back in the right ballpark. |

Nick Franklin |

He is no longer dominating, but he is affordable. |

Alex Rodriguez |

7.5 |
The percentage numbers are actually better than they were a year ago. |
SS

Brad Miller |

He may not be the fielder that Brendan Ryan was, but he is worlds better with the bat. |
OF

Andrew McCutchen |
5,300 |
9.4 |
Ignore the seemingly pedestrian home run and RBI totals. He is producing 900+ OPS totals. |
OF

Mike Trout |

11.1 |
There will be another MVP debate at the end of the season with Trout involved. |
OF

Jacoby Ellsbury |

Obviously I love playing this guy, but he has been producing ten plus points per game since April. |

Taijuan Walker |

Judging a guy by his debut against the Astros is tough, but he’d darn good prospect. |

Jered Weaver |

The Rays are really scuffling these days, so this is a good spot to start him. |
