2014 Fantasy Baseball: The Daily Double Switch for August 23rd
Welcome back to the Daily Double Switch here at the Fantasy Fix. For those who are not yet Daily Fantasy baseball players at DraftKings, head over there and join. DraftKings gives you $50,000 to draft eight hitters (one at each position) plus two pitchers. When you join they will double your initial deposit, up to $600, so it’s a great time to jump in. I know you’ve got fantasy football on your mind too, so click here and get our football draft kit for free along with a year of #FrontOffice access.
I like to do things a little differently for you on Saturday’s. Most of the contests come available as ‘early only’ or ‘late only’ options, so I’m going to give you lineups for both day and night contests. As always, watch the starting lineups as they roll in about an hour prior to each game’s first pitch. You can find me on twitter @RyNoonan if you have player specific questions.

Game times and Weather
The early contests start at 1:05 pm est in New York, as the Yankees take on the White Sox. We have six early games today, and three have some dicey weather. Rain could be an issue in Minnesota (vs. Tigers), Chicago (vs. Orioles) and in D.C. (vs. the Giants). The night games per usual, kick off at 7:05 pm est. Scattered thunderstorms appear to be on the way in Cincinnati for the Reds contest against the Braves.
Stacking options
In the early games, I like the White Sox and the Rays, while the evening will be focused on the Marlins and Brewers. The Rays face Mark Buehrle, who’s early season smoke and mirror show has come to an abrupt halt. The White Sox are in New York, going face to face with Hiroki Kuroda. Kuroda’s been ok, but not anything that I’d shy away from. Jose Abreu takes him deep today. Look out for Ian Desmond today, too.
For the evening slate, I really like the Brewers chances of getting to Edison Volquez. His tendency to walk hitters will often extend innings, and the Brewers have the pop that’ll make you pay for those mistakes. I’m also focusing on the game in Colorado, but more so with the Marlins side of the coin. Here are today’s optimal lineups:
